Studies on the water and suspended matter concentration dynamics were performed for the summer and autumn periods in Kruglaya Bay, Chupa Inlet (Karelian Coast, the White Sea). The tidal cycle appeared as the major factor defining the water salinity, temperature, and suspended matter concentration. The water temperature and suspended matter concentration increased during low tide, and the opposite pattern was observed for water salinity; all the processes were true for both surface and bottom water layers. Therefore, we conclude that major bulk of the allochtonous suspended matter is carried into the sea by the ebb stream.  相似文献

Studies of the dynamics of the concentration of the suspended particulate matter (SPM) and Corg in the seawater of Chupa Inlet were performed for the three-year period of 2010–2012. In general, the concentration of SPM increased from the spring through the summer, decreased through the autumn period, and declined dramatically in the winter. The ratio of the organic matter in the SPM decreased gradually from the surface water layer to the bottom and averaged 61%. The abiotic factors affecting the SPM concentration and suspended organic matter were studied; the water temperature and tide events were named as the liming ones.  相似文献

A three-year study of the abrasion of coarse fragmental material on the Murmansk coast has been carried out. According to the researchers, the average rate of the abrasion of the coarse-fragmental material of granitoid composition on the Murmansk coast has been determined. It was revealed that the rate of the destruction of the blocks increases from the lower littoral zone to the upper one. The estimation of the quantity of sedimentary material coming to the sedimentation basin as a result of the abrasion of coarse-fragmental material has been carried out.  相似文献

The report presents results of experiments testifying to the possibility of using wet oxidation to determine the concentrations of organic carbon in marine particulate matter. We describe a method for eliminating the measurement error caused by the influence of chlorides on the processes of dichromate oxidation of organic matter. We present an equation to calculate the concentration of organic carbon depending on that of sodium chloride.  相似文献

The study of bottom sediments and suspended matter (SM) in the Hornsunn Fjord of western Spitsbergen reveals that SM is largely deposited in its central part. The model of recent sedimentation in the fjord is proposed based on the analysis of grain-size distribution, petrographic-mineralogical composition, physical properties of recent sediments, and benthic foraminiferal communities therein.  相似文献

The studies of vertical particle fluxes were performed in 2006–2007 in Dalnezelenetskaya Inlet (the Barents Sea) and Chupa Inlet (the White Sea). The average annual particle flux in Dalnezelenetskaya Inlet was 20–21 cm3/(m2 day), or 1350–1400 mg/(m2 day), while, in Chupa Inlet, it was 17–18 cm3/(m2 day), or 500–550 mg/(m2 day). The sedimentary matter is mostly represented by flocculent detritus less than 100 μm in size. Currently, the estimated sedimentation rate constitutes 0.9–1.1 mm per annum in the DI and 0.3–1.0 mm per annum in the Chupa Inlet.  相似文献
