We have observed emission from both ortho and para spin states of ketene (CH2CO) towards several deeply-embedded protostars. The low CH2CO fractional abundances (∼10−10) and the rotation temperatures (∼20 K) are consistent with emission from the cooler envelope. We compare our results with previous studies and discuss possible production pathways to interstellar ketene. We suggest that, if low observed excitation temperatures of CH2CO, CH3CHO and H2CO are indicative of their absence from the hot core region, then this may be due to the extensive hydrogenation of pre-existing grain mantles prior to evaporation into the inner envelope, leading to lower abundances of these compounds and to mantles rich in alcohols.  相似文献

In this paper we study the effect of shock waves on the chemical structure of the interstellar clouds. A model of molecular cloud has been assumed. The chemistry is investigated in a time dependent model. Our chemical network contains 56 species in 251 reactions to including molecules of the elements H, O, C, N, S, and Si.The results indicate that the calculated fractional abundance of the molecules NS, H2O, CN, NH, CO, and SO agrees well with the observations. The molecules OH, H2S, CS, H2CS, HS, NO, SiO, CH, CH2, CH3, HCO, C2, and HCN reach high post-shock abundances.  相似文献

One-dimensional radial models of the chemistry in cometary comae have been constructed for heliocentric distances ranging from 2 to 0.125 AU. The coma's opacity to solar radiation is included and photolytic reaction rates are calculated. A parent volatile mixture similar to that found in interstellar molecular clouds is assumed. Profiles through the coma of number density and column density are presented for H2O, OH, O, CN, C2, C3, CH, and NH2. Whole-coma abundances are presented for NH2, CH, C2, C3, CN, OH, CO+, H2O+, CH+, N2+, and CO2+.  相似文献

Close to 30 deuterated molecules have now been detected in the ISM, including doubly-deuterated species D2H+, ND2H, D2CO, CHD2OH, D2S, and D2CS, as well as triply-deuterated ammonia and methanol. We review the current understanding of depletion and deuteration processes in cold, dense interstellar medium (ISM) and discuss the utility of deuteroammonia as a tracer of the physical conditions and kinematics of cold, dense gas.  相似文献

A set of samples of 13 massive star-forming cores were observed in SiO (2-1), CH3OH (2-1) and C34S (2-1) thermal lines. Nine of these cores were detected in all three lines. Among the nine SiO detections, three were new detections, and relatively faint. Most of the lines have wide wings, which might be interpreted as the evidence of ongoing energetic out?ows in the cores. The line widths of SiO are generally the broadest, which might further suggest that the SiO emissions are due to higher velocity out?ow, and closer to the excited source. We derive the rotational temperatures, column densities and chemical relative abundances of the cores. There is a strong correlation between SiO and CH3OH abundances, with correlation coeffcient R = 0.77, but no correlation is observed between SiO and C34S.  相似文献

Photoionization of the upper atmosphere of Titan by sunlight is expected to produce a substantial ionospheric layer. We have solved one-dimensional forms of the mass, momentum, and energy conservation equations for ions and electrons and have obtained electron number densities of about 103 cm?3, using various model atmospheres. The significant ions in a CH4H2 atmosphere are H+, H3+, CH5+, CH5+, CH3+, and C2H5+. Electron temperatures may be as high as 1000°K, depending on the abundance of hydrogen in the high atmosphere. Interaction of the solar wind with the ionosphere is also discussed.  相似文献

We present a comparative study on molecular abundances in comets basedon millimetre/submillimetre observations made with the IRAM 30-m,JCMT, CSO and SEST telescopes. This study concerns a sample of 24comets (6 Jupiter-family, 3 Halley-family, 15 long-period) observedfrom 1986 to 2001 and 8 molecular species (HCN, HNC, CH3CN,CH3OH, H2CO, CO, CS, H2S). HCN was detected in all comets, while at least 2 molecules were detected in 19 comets. From the sub-sample of comets for which contemporary H2O productionrates are available, we infer that the HCN abundance relative to water variesfrom 0.08% to 0.25%. With respect to other species, HCN is the moleculewhich exhibits the lowest abundance variation from comet to comet. Therefore, production rates relative to that of HCN can be used for a comparative study ofmolecular abundances in the 19 comets. It is found that: CH3OH/HCN varies from ≤ 9 to 64; CO/HCN varies from ≤ 24 to 180; H2CO/HCN varies between 1.6 and 10; and H2S/HCN varies between 1.5 and 7.6. This study does not show any clear correlation between the relative abundancesand the dynamical origins of the comets, or their dust-to-gas ratios.  相似文献

Dirty ice of a second kind (major components, H2O, CO, and N2; minor components less than several percents, NH3, CH4, and other organic substances such as HCN, CH3CN etc.) is assumed for the composition of volatiles in the cometary nucleus. The consistency with the observations of molecular ions and daughter molecules in the cometary atmosphere is argued by taking into account various ion-molecular reactions and dissociative recombinations. There is a satisfactory agreement for the second kind of dirty-ice model, but the presence of large amounts of CH4 and NH3 is found to be rather in contradiction with observational evidence. A velocity of 8 km s?1 for the hydrogen atoms, derived from analysis of the hydrogen Lyman-alpha corona around comets, is found from the dissociative recombination of H3O+, the dominant constituent of cometary ionosphere, in accordance with H3O++e ?→OH+H+H.  相似文献

We present new experimental results on impact shock chemistry into icy satellites of the outer planets. Icy mixtures of pure water ice with CO2, Na2CO3, CH3OH, and CH3OH/(NH4)2SO4 at 77 K were ablated with a powerful pulsed laser—a new technique used to simulate shock processes which can occur during impacts. New products were identified by GC-MS and FTIR analyses after laser ablation. Our results show that hydrogen peroxide is formed in irradiated H2O/CO2 ices with a final concentration of 0.23%. CO and CH3OH were also detected as main products. The laser ablation of frozen H2O/Na2CO3 generates only CO and CO2 as destruction products from the salt. Pulsed irradiation of water ice containing methanol leads also to the formation of CO and CO2, generates methane and more complex molecules containing carbonyl groups like acetaldehyde, acetone, methyl formate, and a diether, dimethyl formal. The last three compounds are also produced when adding ammonium sulfate to H2O/CH3OH ice, but acetone is more abundant. The formation of two hydrocarbons, CH4 and C2H6 is observed as well as the production of three nitrogen compounds, nitrous oxide, hydrogen cyanide, and acetonitrile.  相似文献

Despite the low elemental abundance of atomic deuterium in the interstellar medium (ISM), observational evidence suggests that several species, both in the gas phase and in ices, could be heavily fractionated. We explore various aspects of deuterium enrichment by constructing a chemical evolution model in both gaseous and granular phases. Depending on various physical parameters, gases and grains are allowed to interact with each other through the exchange of their chemical species. It is known that HCO+ and N2H+ are two abundant gas phase ions in the ISM and, their deuterium fractionation is generally used to predict the degree of ionization in the various regions of a molecular cloud. For a more accurate estimation, we consider the density profile of a collapsing cloud. The radial distributions of important interstellar molecules, along with their deuterated isotopomers, are presented. Quantum chemical simulations are computed to study the effects of isotopic substitution on the spectral properties of these interstellar species. We calculate the vibrational (harmonic) frequencies of the most important deuterated species (neutral and ions). The rotational and distortional constants of these molecules are also computed in order to predict the rotational transitions of these species. We compare vibrational (harmonic) and rotational transitions as computed by us with existing experimental and theoretical results. It is hope that our results will assist observers in detecting several hitherto unobserved deuterated species.  相似文献

We present model results for the chemistry in an expanding cloud or clump in which molecules are injected into the gas phase from grain surfaces when the clump reaches a certain visual extinction A v during the expansion. We consider separately injection at two different values of A v, and include a representative large hydrocarbon, C6H, and sulphur-bearing molecule, H2SO4, as well as H2O and CO. We examine the abundances of certain molecules which have been observed in diffuse and translucent clouds, and compare the results obtained for these abundances with and without an injection during expansion. We also compare our results withpublished observations, and conclude that in most clouds an injection of molecules has occurred.  相似文献

Abstract. We have constructed a chemical reaction system in a contracting interstellar cloud. In paper (I) we have presented the details of the physical and chemical scheme and the method of solution. The results of our chemical model produce fractional abundances of H2CO, CO, OH, H2O, SO and OCS which are in good agreement with the results of observations. On the other hand, the results of chlorine-bearing species are not in agreement with those of the observations. The calculated abundances of H2CO, CO, OH, H2O, SO, OCS and Cl+ are in agreement with the results of previous theoretical studies.  相似文献

We present near-IR (2.2-2.4 μm) reflectance and transmittance spectra of frozen (16 and 77 K) methanol (CH3OH) and water-methanol (1:1) mixtures before and after irradiation with 30 keV He+ and 200 keV H+ ions. Spectra of other simple hydrocarbons (CH4, C2H2, C2H4, C2H6) and CO have also been obtained both to help in the identification of the new molecules formed after ion irradiation of methanol-rich ices, and to get insight into the question of the presence of simple frozen hydrocarbons on the surface of some objects in the outer Solar System. The results confirm what obtained by studies performed in different spectral ranges, namely the ion-induced formation of CO and CH4, and, for the first time, evidence a strong decrease of the intensity of the methanol band at about 2.34 μm in comparison with that at 2.27 μm. The results are discussed in view of their relevance for icy objects in the Solar System (namely comets, Centaurs, and Kuiper belt objects) where CH3OH has been observed or suggested to be present.  相似文献

Highly-collimated outflows are believed to be the earliest stage in outflow evolution, so their study is essential for understanding the processes driving outflows. The BHR71 Bok globule is known to harbour such a highly-collimated outflow, which is powered by a protostar belonging to a protobinary system. Using the APEX telescope on Chajnantor, we mapped the BHR71 highly-collimated outflow in CO(3-2), and observed several bright points of the outflow in the molecular transitions CO(4-3), CO(7-6), 13CO(3-2), C18O(3-2), CH3OH(7-6) and H2CO(4-3). We use an LVG code to characterise the temperature enhancements in these regions. These observations are particularly interesting for investigating the interaction of collimated outflows with the ambient molecular cloud. In our CO(3-2) map, the second outflow driven by IRS2, which is the second source of the binary system, is completely revealed and shown to be bipolar. We also measure temperature enhancements in the lobes. The CO and methanol LVG modelling points to temperatures between 30 and 50 K in the two lobes. The methanol emission in the southern lobe bright knot is barely resolved with the APEX single-dish. ALMA will thus be a central tool to study the shock chemistry in these regions.  相似文献

We present models for the chemistry in gas moving towards the ionization front of an HII region. When it is far from the ionization front, the gas is highly depleted of elements more massive than helium. However, as it approaches the ionization front, ices are destroyed and species formed on the grain surfaces are injected into the gas phase. Photodissociation removes gas phase molecular species as the gas flows towards the ionization front. We identify models for which the OH column densities are comparable to those measured in observations undertaken to study the magnetic fields in star forming regions and give results for the column densities of other species that should be abundant if the observed OH arises through a combination of the liberation of H2O from surfaces and photodissociation. They include CH3OH, H2CO, and H2S. Observations of these other species may help establish the nature of the OH spatial distribution in the clouds, which is important for the interpretation of the magnetic field results.  相似文献

This paper reports 13CO, C18O, HCO+ (J = 1−0) spectral observations toward IRAS 23133+6050 with the 13.7 m millimeter-wave telescope at Qinghai Station of PMO. Corresponding to the 13CO, C18O, HCO+ line emissions, the size of the observed molecular cloud core is 4.0 pc, 2.1 pc and 2.3 pc, the virial mass is 2.7 × 103 M, 0.9 × 103 M and 2.3 × 103 M, and the volume density of H2 is 2.7 × 103 cm−3, 5.1 × 103 cm−3 and 4.6 × 103 cm−3, respectively. Using the power-law function n(r) ∼rp, the spatial density distribution of the cloud core was analyzed, the obtained exponent p is respectively 1.75, 1.56 and 1.48 for the 13CO, C18O and HCO+ cores, and it is found that the density distribution becomes gradually flatter from the outer region to the inner region of the core. The HCO+ abundance is 4.6 × 10−10, one order of magnitude less than the value for dark clouds, and slightly less than that for giant molecular clouds. The 13CO/C18O relative abundance ratio is 12.2, comparable with the value 11.8 for dark clouds, and the value 9.0 ∼ 15.6 for giant molecular clouds. A 13CO bipolar outflow is found in this region. The IRAS far-infrared luminosity and the virial masses give the luminosity-mass ratios 18.1, 51.1 and 21.2 from the three lines.  相似文献

We used the NIRSPEC instrument on the Keck-2 telescope atop Mauna Kea, HI to observe Comet C/2001 A2 (LINEAR) in a Target of Opportunity campaign on UT 2001 July 9.5, 10.5 August 4.4, 10.5. We measured seven organic parent volatiles (C2H6, C2H2, HCN, CH4, CO, CH3OH, H2CO) simultaneously with H2O. We obtained absolute production rates and relative abundances for parent volatiles, and also measured rotational temperatures for several of these species. The chemical composition of C/2001 A2 differs substantially from any comet we have observed to date. The abundances we measure (relative to H2O) for C2H6, C2H2, HCN, and CH3OH are enriched by a factor of ∼2 to 3 in C/2001 A2 compared with most comets in our database. Other molecular species were detected within the typical range of measured abundances. C/2001 A2 presented a unique opportunity to study the chemistry of a fragmenting comet where pristine areas are exposed to the Sun.  相似文献

We have constructed models for a region of low mass star formation where stellar winds ablate material from dark dense cores and return it to a translucent intercore medium from which subsequent generations of cores condense. Depletion of gas phase species onto grains plays a major role in the chemistry. For reasonable agreement between model core chemical fractional abundances and measured TMC-1 fractional abundances to obtain, the core collapse, once started, must be relatively uninhibited by turbulence or magnetic fields and the core lifetime must fall in a limited range determined by the assumed depletion rates. In a core with the TMC-1 fractional abundances, CH, OH, C2H, H2CO, HCN, HNC, and CN are the only simple species that have been detected in TMC-1 at radio and millimeter wavelengths to have fractional abundances that are roughly constant or increasing with time; this result bears considerably on previous work concerned with searches for spectroscopic evidence for and the diagnosis of collapse during protostellar formation, but depends on the fractions of the OH and CH emissions that are associated with the core centre rather than more extended gas or a core-stellar wind boundary layer. Model results for the abundance ratios of H2O, CH4, and NH3 ices are in good agreement with those inferred for Halley's Comet.  相似文献

The apparition of Comet C/1996 B2 (Hyakutake) offered an unexpected and rare opportunity to probe the inner atmosphere of a comet with high spatial resolution and to investigate with unprecedented sensitivity its chemical composition. We present observations of over 30 submillimeter transitions of HCN, H13CN, HNC, HNCO, CO, CH3OH, and H2CO in Comet Hyakutake carried out between 1996 March 18 and April 9 at the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory. Detections of the H13CN (4–3) and HNCO (160,16–150,15) transitions represent the first observations of these species in a comet. In addition, several other transitions, including HCN (8–7), CO (4–3), and CO (6–5) are detected for the first time in a comet as is the hyperfine structure of the HCN (4–3) line. The observed intensities of the HCN (4–3) hyperfine components indicate a line center optical depth of 0.9 ± 0.2 on March 22.5 UT. The HCN/HNC abundance ratio in Comet Hyakutake at a heliocentric distance of 1 AU is similar to that measured in the Orion extended ridge— a warm, quiescent molecular cloud. The HCN/H13CN abundance ratio implied by our observations is 34 ± 12, similar to that measured in giant molecular clouds in the galactic disk but significantly lower than the Solar System12C/13C ratio. The low HCN/H13CN abundance ratio may be in part due to contamination by an SO2line blended with the H13CN (4–3) line. In addition, chemical models suggest that the HCN/H13CN ratio can be affected by fractionation during the collapse phase of the protosolar nebula; hence a low HCN/H13CN ratio observed in a comet is not inconsistent with the solar system12C/13C isotopic ratio. The abundance of HNCO relative to water derived from our observations is (7 ± 3) × 10−4. The HCN/HNCO abundance ratio is similar to that measured in the core of Sagittarius B2 molecular cloud. Although a photo-dissociative channel of HNCO leads to CO, the CO produced by HNCO is a negligible component of cometary atmospheres. Production rates of HCN, CO, H2CO, and CH3OH are presented. Inferred molecular abundances relative to water are typical of those measured in comets at 1 AU from the Sun. The exception is CO, for which we derive a large relative abundance of 30%. The evolution of the HCN production rate between March 20 and March 30 suggests that the increased activity of the comet was the cause of the fragmentation of the nucleus. The time evolution of the H2CO emission suggests production of this species from dust grains.  相似文献
