Petrogenetic grids in the system NCKFMASH (Na2O–CaO–K2O–FeO–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2–H2O)and the subsystems NCKMASH and NCKFASH calculated with the softwareTHERMOCALC 3.1 are presented for the PT range 7–30kbar and 450–680°C, for assemblages involving garnet, chloritoid, biotite, carpholite, talc, chlorite, kyanite, staurolite, paragonite, glaucophane, jadeite, omphacite, diopsidic pyroxene, plagioclase, zoisite and lawsonite, with phengite, quartz/coesiteand H2O in excess. These grids, together with calculated compatibilitydiagrams and PT and TXCa and PXCa pseudosectionsfor different bulk-rock compositions, show that incorporationof Ca into the NKFMASH system leads to many of the NKFMASH invariantequilibria moving to lower pressure and/or lower temperature, which results, in most cases, in the stability of jadeite andgarnet being enlarged, but in the reduction of stability ofglaucophane, plagioclase and AFM phases. The effect of Ca onthe stability of paragonite is dependent on mineral assemblageat different PT conditions. The calculated NCKFMASH diagramsare powerful in delineating the phase equilibria and PTconditions of natural pelitic assemblages. Moreover, contoursof the calculated phengite Si isopleths in PT and PXCapseudosections confirm that phengite barometry in NCKFMASH isstrongly dependent on mineral assemblage. Using an internally consistent thermodynamic dataset and updatedmodels of activity–composition relation for solid solutions, petrogenetic grids in the system NKFMASH (Na2O–K2O–FeO–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2–H2O)and the subsystems NKMASH and NKFASH have been calculated withthe software THERMOCALC 3.1 in the PT range 5–36kbar and 400–810°C, involving garnet, chloritoid, biotite, carpholite, talc, chlorite, kyanite/sillimanite, staurolite, phengite, paragonite, albite, glaucophane, jadeite, with quartz/coesiteand H2O in excess. These grids, together with calculated AFMcompatibility diagrams and PT pseudosections, are shownto be powerful tools for delineating the phase equilibria andPT conditions of Na-bearing pelitic assemblages for avariety of bulk compositions from high-P terranes around theworld. These calculated equilibria are in good agreement withpetrological studies. Moreover, contours of the calculated phengiteSi isopleths in PT pseudosections for different bulkcompositions confirm that phengite barometry is highly dependenton mineral assemblage. Metapelitic rock samples from the NE Shackleton Range, Antarctica, include garnet with contrasting zonation patterns and two agespectra. Garnet porphyroblasts in K-rich kyanite–sillimanite–staurolite–garnet–muscovite–biotite schistsfrom Lord Nunatak show prograde growth zonation, and give Sm–Ndgarnet, U–Pb monazite and Rb–Sr muscovite ages of518 ± 5, 514 ± 1 and 499 ± 12 Ma, respectively.Geothermobarometry and PT pseudo-section calculationsin the model system CaO–Na2O–K2O– TiO2–MnO–FeO–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2–H2Oare consistent with garnet growth during prograde heating from540°C/7 kbar to 650°C/7·5 kbar, and partial resorptionduring a subsequent PT decrease to <650°C at <6kbar. All data indicate that rocks from Lord Nunatak were affectedby a single orogenic cycle. In contrast, garnet porphyroblastsin K-poor kyanite–sillimanite– staurolite–garnet–cordierite–biotite-schistsfrom Meade Nunatak show two growth stages and diffusion-controlledzonation. Two distinct age groups were obtained. Laser ablationplasma ionization multicollector mass spectrometry in situ analysesof monazite, completely enclosed by a first garnet generation, yield ages of c. 1700 Ma, whereas monazite grains in open garnetfractures and in most matrix domains give c. 500 Ma. Both agegroups are also obtained by U–Pb thermal ionization massspectrometry analyses of matrix monazite and zircon, which fallon a discordia with lower and upper intercepts at 502 ±1 and 1686 ± 2 Ma, respectively. Sm–Nd garnet datingyields an age of 1571 ± 40 Ma and Rb–Sr biotiteanalyses give an age of 504 ± 1 Ma. Integrated geochronologicaland petrological data provide evidence that rocks from MeadeNunatak underwent a polymetamorphic Barrovian-type metamorphism:(1) garnet 1 growth and subsequent diffusive garnet annealingbetween 1700 and 1570 Ma; (2) garnet 2 growth during the RossOrogeny at c. 500 Ma. During the final orogenic event the rocksexperienced peak PT conditions of about 650°C/7·0kbar and a retrograde stage at c. 575°C/4·0 kbar. Anhydrite solubility in H2O–NaCl solutions was measuredat 6–14 kbar, 600–800°C and NaCl mole fractions(XNaCl) of 0–0·3 in piston–cylinder apparatus.Solubilities were determined by weight changes of natural anhydritein perforated Pt envelopes confined with fluid in larger Ptcapsules. In initially pure H2O at 10 kbar and 800°C, CaSO4concentration is low (0·03 molal), though much largerthan at the same temperature and 1 kbar. Hematite-buffered experimentsshowed slightly lower solubilities than unbuffered runs. CaSO4solubility increases enormously with NaCl activity: at 800°Cand 10 kbar and XNaCl of 0·3, CaSO4 molality is 200 timeshigher than with pure H2O. Whereas CaSO4 solubility in pureH2O decreases with rising T at low T and P, the high-P resultsshow that anhydrite solubility increases with T at constantP at all XNaCl investigated. The effects of salinity and temperatureare so great at 10 kbar that critical mixing between sulfate-richhydrosaline melts and aqueous salt solutions is probable at900°C at XNaCl 0·3. Recent experimental evidencethat volatile-laden magmas crystallizing in the deep crust mayevolve concentrated salt solutions could, in light of the presentwork, have important implications regarding such diverse processesas Mount Pinatubo-type S-rich volcanism, high-f O2 regionalmetamorphism, and emplacement of porphyry Cu–Mo ore bodies, where anhydrite–hematite alteration and fluid inclusionsreveal the action of very oxidized saline solutions rich insulfur. Petrological and geochemical variations are used to investigatethe formation of granite magma from diatexite migmatites derivedfrom metasedimentary rocks of pelitic to greywacke compositionat St. Malo, France. Anatexis occurred at relatively low temperaturesand pressures (<800°C, 4–7 kbar), principally throughmuscovite dehydration melting. Biotite remained stable and servesas a tracer for the solid fraction during melt segregation. The degree of partial melting, calculated from modal mineralogyand reaction stoichiometry, was <40 vol. %. There is a continuousvariation in texture, mineralogy and chemical composition inthe diatexite migmatites. Mesocratic diatexite formed when metasedimentaryrocks melted sufficiently to undergo bulk flow or magma flow, but did not experience significant melt–residuum separation.Mesocratic diatexite that underwent melt segregation duringflow generated (1) melanocratic diatexites at the places wherethe melt fraction was removed, leaving behind a biotite andplagioclase residuum (enriched in TiO2, FeOT, MgO, CaO, Sc,Ni, Cr, V, Zr, Hf, Th, U and REE), and (2) a complementary leucocraticdiatexite (enriched in SiO2, K2O and Rb) where the melt fractionaccumulated. Leucocratic diatexite still contained 5–15vol. % residual biotite (mg-number 40–44) and 10–20vol. % residual plagioclase (An22). Anatectic granite magmadeveloped from the leucodiatexite, first by further melt–residuumseparation, then through fractional crystallization. Most biotitein the anatectic granite is magmatic (mg-number 18–22). KEY WORDS: anatexis; diatexite; granite magma; melt segregation; migmatite  相似文献

A suite of garnetiferous amphibolites and mafic granulites occuras small boudins within layered felsic migmatite gneiss in thenorthern part of the Sausar Mobile Belt (SMB), the latter constitutingthe southern component of the Proterozoic Central Indian TectonicZone (CITZ). Although the two types of metabasites are in variousstages of retrogression, textural, compositional and phase equilibriastudies attest to four distinct metamorphic episodes. The earlyprograde stage (Mo) is represented by an inclusion assemblageof hornblende1 + ilmenite1 + plagioclase1 ± quartz andgrowth zoning preserved in garnet. The peak assemblage (M1)consists of porphyroblastic garnet + clinopyroxene ±quartz ± rutile ± hornblende in mafic granulitesand garnet + quartz + hornblende in amphibolites and stabilizedat pressure–temperature conditions of 9–10 kbarand 750–800°C and 8 kbar and 675°C, respectively. This was followed by near-isothermal decompression (M2), andpost-decompression cooling (M3) events. In mafic granulites, the former resulted in the development of early clinopyroxene2A–hornblende2A–plagioclase2Asymplectites at 8 kbar and 775°C (M2A stage), synchronouswith D2 and later anhydrous clinopyroxene2B–plagioclase2B–ilmenite2Bsymplectites and coronal assemblages at 7 kbar, 750°C (M2Bstage) and post-dating D2. In amphibolites, ilmenite + plagioclase+ quartz ± hornblende symplectites appeared during M2at 6·4 kbar and 700°C. During M3, coronal garnet+ clinopyroxene + quartz ± hornblende-bearing symplectitesin metabasic dykes and hornblende3–plagioclase3 symplectitesembaying garnet in mafic granulites were formed. PT estimatesshow near-isobaric cooling from 7 kbar and 750°C to 6 kbarand 650°C during M3. It is argued that the decompressionin the mafic granulites is not continuous, being punctuatedby a distinct heating (prograde?) event. The latter is alsocoincident with a period of extension, marked by mafic dykeemplacement. The combined PT path of evolution has aclockwise sense and provides evidence for a major phase of earlycontinental subduction in parts of the CITZ. This was followedby a later continent–continent collision event duringwhich granulites of the first phase became tectonically interleavedwith younger lithological units. This tectonothermal event,of possibly Grenvillian age, marks the final amalgamation ofthe North and the South Indian Blocks along the CITZ to producethe Indian subcontinent. Mineral assemblages in the blueschist-facies metapelites fromthe Ile de Groix (Armorican Massif, France) permit the distinctionof two main units. The Upper Unit is characterized by: (1) highmodal proportions of garnet; (2) larger grain size; (3) therarity of graphite-bearing layers; (4) a single, although composite, foliation S1. A Lower Unit is defined by: (1) low modal proportionsof garnet; (2) smaller grain size; (3) an abundance of graphite-bearinglayers; (4) a pervasive crenulation cleavage S2. In the UpperUnit, coexisting garnet and chloritoid are more magnesian andless manganiferous than in the Lower Unit. The differences inmodal proportions and chemistry of coexisting minerals reflectdifferent P–T conditions. The P–T history of theblueschist-facies metapelites is estimated using a simplifiedpetrogenetic grid in the NFMASH system and thermodynamic calculations, which suggest peak P–T conditions at about P = 16–18kbar, T = 450–500°C and P = 14–16 kbar, T =400–450°C in the Upper and Lower Units, respectively.Peak P–T conditions were followed by a nearly isothermaldecompression for both units at slightly different temperatures(of the order of 50°C). The contact between the two units,i.e. the garnet isograd, is interpreted as a greenschist-faciesductile thrust. Thrusting of the higher-grade unit, i.e. theUpper Unit, over the Lower Unit occurred after the high-pressureevent, i.e. during the exhumation of both units. The observedsuperposition of higher-grade rocks over lower-grade rocks arguesagainst models where the exhumation history is entirely controlledby crustal-scale vertical shortening (i.e. extension). Garnet-bearing assemblages of K-rich and K-poor metapelitesfrom the Ilesha Schist belt, SW Nigeria, are investigated. K-richsamples contain the assemblages (A) garnet–staurolite–muscovite–chlorite–magnetite,(B) andalusite–garnet–staurolite–muscovite–chlorite–magnetiteand (C) sillimanite–andalusite–garnet–muscovite–chlorite–magnetite.K-poor samples contain the assemblages (D) garnet–staurolite–cordierite–chloriteand (E) garnet–cordierite–chlorite ± staurolite. All assemblages contain quartz, plagioclase, biotite and ilmenite.PT pseudosections calculated in the system CaO–Na2O–K2O–TiO2–MnO–FeO–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2 –H2O ± O2 suggest peak metamorphismat 590 ± 20°C at 5 ± 0·5 kbar, followedby retrogression to 550°C at 3·0 kbar, in agreementwith field evidence, domain assemblages, mineral compositions, modes and geothermobarometry. The absence of compositional zonationshows that garnet in all investigated rocks nucleated and grewat constant P–T–X in equilibrium with associatedminerals on the thin-section scale. However, the garnet-in reactiondid not begin until the establishment of a significant temperatureoverstep of  相似文献

In the Ranmal migmatite complex, non-anatectic foliated graniteprotoliths can be traced to polyphase migmatites. Structural–microtexturalrelations and thermobarometry indicate that syn-deformationalsegregation–crystallization of in situ stromatic and diatexiteleucosomes occurred at 800°C and 8 kbar. The protolith, the neosome, and the mesosome comprise quartz, K-feldspar, plagioclase, hornblende, biotite, sphene, apatite, zircon, and ilmenite, but the modal mineralogy differs widely. The protolith compositionis straddled by element abundances in the leucosome and themesosome. The leucosomes are characterized by lower CaO, FeO+MgO,mg-number, TiO2 , P2O5 , Rb, Zr and total rare earth elements(REE), and higher SiO2 , K2O, Ba and Sr than the protolith andthe mesosome, whereas Na2O and Al2O3 abundances are similar. The protolith and the mesosome have negative Eu anomalies, butprotolith-normalized abundances of REE-depleted leucosomes showpositive Eu anomalies. The congruent melting reaction for leucosomeproduction is inferred to be 0·325 quartz+0·288K-feldspar+0·32 plagioclase+0·05 biotite+0·014hornblende+0·001 apatite+0·001 zircon+0·002sphene=melt. Based on the reaction, large ion lithophile element,REE and Zr abundances in model melts computed using dynamicmelting approached the measured element abundances in leucosomesfor >0·5 mass fraction of unsegregated melts withinthe mesosome. Disequilibrium-accommodated dynamic melting andequilibrium crystallization of melts led to uniform plagioclasecomposition in migmatites and REE depletion in leucosome. The northern margin of the Inland Branch of the Pan-AfricanDamara Orogen in Namibia shows dramatic along-strike variationin metamorphic character during convergence between the Congoand Kalahari Cratons (M3 metamorphic cycle). Low-P contact metamorphismwith anticlockwise PT paths dominates in the westerndomains (Ugab Zone and western Northern Zone), and high-P Barrovianmetamorphism with a clockwise PT path is documented fromthe easternmost domain (eastern Northern Zone). The sequenceof M3 mineral growth in contact aureoles shows early growthof cordierite porphyroblasts that were pseudomorphed to biotite–chlorite–muscoviteat the same time as an andalusite–biotite–muscovitetransposed foliation was developed in the matrix. The peak-Tmetamorphic assemblages and fabrics were overprinted by crenulationsand retrograde chlorite–muscovite. The KFMASH PTpseudosection for metapelites in the Ugab Zone and western NorthernZone contact aureoles indicates tight anticlockwise PTloops through peak metamorphic conditions of 540–570°Cand 2·5–3·2 kbar. These semi-quantitativePT loops are consistent with average PT calculationsusing THERMOCALC, which give a pooled mean of 556 ± 26°Cand 3·2 ± 0·6 kbar, indicating a high averagethermal gradient of 50°C/km. In contrast, the eastern NorthernZone experienced deep burial, high-P/moderate-T Barrovian M3metamorphism with an average thermal gradient of 21°C/kmand peak metamorphic conditions of c. 635°C and 8·7kbar. The calculated PT pseudosection and garnet compositionalisopleths in KFMASH, appropriate for the metapelite sample fromthis region, document a clockwise PT path. Early plagioclase–kyanite–biotiteparageneses evolved by plagioclase consumption and the growthof garnet to increasing XFe, XMg and XCa and decreasing XMncompositions, indicating steep burial with heating. The developedkyanite–garnet–biotite peak metamorphic parageneseswere followed by the resorption of garnet and formation of plagioclasemoats, indicating decompression, which was followed by retrogressivecooling and chlorite–muscovite growth. The clockwise PTloop is consistent with the foreland vergent fold–thrustbelt geometry in this part of the northern margin. Earlier formed(580–570 Ma) pervasive matrix foliations (M2) were overprintedby contact metamorphic parageneses (M3) in the aureoles of 530± 3 Ma granites in the Ugab Zone and 553–514 Magranites in the western Northern Zone. Available geochronologicaldata suggest that convergence between the Congo and KalahariCratons was essentially coeval in all parts of the northernmargin, with similar ages of 535–530 Ma for the main phaseof deformation in the eastern Northern Zone and Northern Platformand 538–505 Ma high-grade metamorphism of the CentralZone immediately to the south. Consequently, NNE–SSW-directedconvergent deformation and associated M3 metamorphism of contrastingstyles are interpreted to be broadly contemporaneous along thelength of the northern margin of the Inland Branch. In the westheat transfer was dominated by conduction and externally drivenby granites, whereas in the east heat transfer was dominatedby advection and internally driven radiogenic heat production. The ultimate cause was along-orogen variation in crustal architecture, including thickness of the passive margin lithosphere and thicknessof the overlying sedimentary succession. Talc–kyanite schists (whiteschists), magnesiohornblende–kyanite–talc–quartzschists and enstatite–sapphirine–chlorite schistsoccur at Mautia Hill in the East African Orogen of Tanzania. They are associated with metapelites and garnet–clinopyroxene–quartzmetabasites. Geobarometry (GASP/GADS equilibria) applied tothe latter two rock types indicates a peak pressure of P = 10–11kbar. These results are confirmed by the high fO2 assemblagehollandite–kyanite–quartz and late-stage manganianandalusite that contains up to 19·5 mol. % Mn2SiO5. Maximumtemperatures of T = 720°C are inferred from late-stage yoderite+ quartz. A clockwise PT evolution is constrained byprograde kyanite inclusions in metapelitic garnet and late-stagereaction rims of cordierite between green yoderite and talcthat reflect conditions at least 3–4 kbar below the peakpressure. Oxidizing conditions are recorded throughout the metamorphichistory of the whiteschists and chlorite schists, as indicatedby the presence of haematite coexisting with pseudobrookiteand/or rutile. Increasing water activity near peak pressuresis thought to have led to the breakdown of the high-pressureassemblages (Tlc–Ky–Hem and Mg-Hbl–Ky–Hem)and the subsequent formation of certain uncommon minerals, e.g.yellow sapphirine, Mn–andalusite, green and purple yoderite, piemontite and boron-free kornerupine. The proposed increasein water activity is attributed to fluid infiltration resultingfrom the devolatilization of underlying sediments during metamorphism. Migmatitic granulites and arc-related felsic intrusives of Pan-Africanage form the bedrock in the Rio de Janeiro area, SE Brazil. These rocks preserve a partial record of three parageneses. The earliest assemblage (M1) grew during fabric formation inthe rocks (D1) and is characterized by the mineral assemblagePl + Bt + Sil + Kfs + Qtz. Peak metamorphic conditions (M2)are characterized by the assemblage Bt + Crd + Kfs + Pl + Grt+ liq + Qtz and are inferred to have developed during D2 foldingof the rocks at T = 750–800°C and P = 7 kbar. M3 reactiontextures overprint the M2 assemblage and comprise symplectiticintergrowth of cordierite(II) and quartz that formed after garnet, whereas secondary biotite formed as a result of reactions betweengarnet and K-feldspar. By comparing the observed modal abundanceswith modal contours of garnet, cordierite and quartz on therelevant pseudosection a post M2 PT vector indicatingcontemporaneous cooling and decompression can be deduced. Theinferred equilibrium assemblage and reaction textures are interpretedto reflect a clockwise PT path involving heating followedby post-peak decompression and associated cooling. We inferthat metamorphism occurred in response to advective heatingby the abundant syn-collisional (arc-related) I-type granitoidsin the region, consistent with the unusually high peak T/P ratio. The metamorphic evolution of metapelites from the eastern partof the Monte Rosa nappe and the Camughera–Moncucco unit, both situated in the upper Penninic units SW of the Simplonline, were investigated using microstructural relationshipsand equilibrium phase diagrams. The units under considerationexperienced pre-Alpine amphibolite-facies conditions and underwenta complex metamorphic evolution during the Alpine orogeny. Peakpressures during an early Alpine high-pressure stage of 12·5–16kbar were similar in the Monte Rosa nappe and Camughera–Moncuccounit. A pronounced thermal gradient is indicated during decompressionleading to an amphibolite-facies overprint, as the decompressionpaths went through the chlorite, biotite and plagioclase stabilityfields in most of the Monte Rosa nappe, through the staurolitefield in the easternmost Monte Rosa nappe and in the Camughera–Moncuccounit, and through the sillimanite field in the easternmost Camughera–Moncuccounit. In high-Al metapelites the initial formation of stauroliteis related to continuous paragonite breakdown and associatedformation of biotite. In the course of this reaction phengitebecomes successively sodium enriched. In low-Al metapelites,in contrast, the initial staurolite formation occurs via thecontinuous breakdown of sodium-rich phengite. In both low- andhigh-Al metapelites the largest volume of staurolite is formedduring the continuous breakdown of sodium-rich phengite belowPT conditions of about 9·5 kbar at 600–650°C.During this reaction phengite becomes successively potassiumenriched as sodium from phengite is used to form the albitecomponent in plagioclase. For ‘normal’ pelitic chemistries, phengite becomes Na enriched during decompression through thebreakdown of paragonite along a near-isothermal decompressionpath. The Na content in phengite reaches its maximum when paragoniteis entirely consumed. During further decompression the paragonitecomponent in phengite decreases again because Na is preferentiallyincorporated into the albite component of plagioclase. Mg- and Al-rich granulites of the central Highland Complex,Sri Lanka preserve a range of reaction textures indicative ofa multistage PT history following an ultrahigh-temperaturemetamorphic peak. The granulites contain a near-peak assemblageof sapphirine–garnet–orthopyroxene–sillimanite–quartz–K-feldspar,which was later overprinted by intergrowth, symplectite andcorona textures involving orthopyroxene, sapphirine, cordieriteand spinel. Biotite-rims, kornerupine and orthopyroxene-rimson biotite are considered to be late assemblages. Thermobarometriccalculations yield an estimated PT of at least 1100°Cand 12 kbar for the near-peak metamorphism. Isopleths of Al2O3in orthopyroxene are consistent with a peak temperature above1150°C. The PT path consists of four segments. Initialisobaric cooling after peak metamorphism (Segment A), whichproduced the garnet–sapphirine–quartz assemblage, was followed by near-isothermal decompression at ultrahigh temperature(Segment B), which produced the multiphase symplectites. Furtherisobaric cooling (Segment C) resulted in the formation of biotiteand kornerupine, and late isothermal decompression (SegmentD) formed orthopyroxene rims on biotite. This evolution canbe correlated with similar PT paths elsewhere, but thereare not yet sufficient geochronological and structural dataavailable from the Highland Complex to allow the tectonic implicationsto be fully assessed. Multi-stage Melting in the Lower Crust of the Serre (Southern Italy)   总被引:3,自引:1,他引:3
The lower-crustal section exposed in the Serre, southern Italy, consists mainly of Al-rich metasediments, which underwent granulite-faciesmetamorphism, partial melting and melt extraction. The paperconsiders the formation of melts in metapelites and metagreywackes.Leucosomes and host rocks have been studied to investigate themelting process. Biotite-rich and biotite-free melanosomes withscarce felsic components are present; the biotite-rich typesare widespread in the upper part of the section and the twotypes may occur side by side in the lower part. Na-rich andK-rich leucosomes including residual phases are interspersedwithin the metasediments; on the whole they do not show geochemicalsignatures suggestive of magmatic fractionation. Leucotonalitictypes prevail among the sampled leucosomes, which generallyare rare earth element (REE) depleted with positive Eu anomalieswhereas the host rocks are REE enriched with overall negativeEu anomalies. Melanosomes and migmatites show restitic chemistries. The precursor metagreywackes underwent depletion in Na2O andenrichment in K2O. The precursor metapelites document generaldepletion in Na2O and they may be enriched or depleted in K2O.All the characteristics of the migmatites and of their componentsreflect a two-stage melting: (1) H2O-present melting, involvingmainly plagioclase, and (2) dehydration melting of micas. Allthe metasediments underwent H2O-present melting, forming mostlysodic melts which, owing to their removal from the source asfast as they formed, did not accumulate in such proportionsas to allow migration and mostly remained within the lower-crustalmetasediments; metapelites also underwent variable dehydrationmelting, depending on chemical features and physical conditions, forming larger volumes of mobile granitic melts, most of whichmigrated far from the source. Extractions of 57–66 vol.% of total melts (sodic + potassic) from the most residual metapeliticmelanosomes and of about 27–44 vol. % of potassic meltsfrom metapelitic migmatites have been calculated. Higher volumesof the extracted melts have been calculated for the metapelitesof the lower part of the section; the most depleted metagreywackesunderwent melt extraction of about 9–13 vol. %. The two-stagemelting occurred during the prograde metamorphism and continuedduring the isothermal decompression. KEY WORDS: Calabria; lower crust; multi-stage melting  相似文献

Experiments in the quartz-saturated part of the system KFMASHunder fO2 conditions of the haematite–magnetite bufferand using bulk compositions with XMg of 0·81, 0·72,0·53 define the stability limits of several mineral assemblageswithin the PT field 9–12 kbar, 850–1100°C.The stability limits of the mineral assemblages orthopyroxene+ spinel + cordierite ± sapphirine, orthopyroxene + garnet+ sapphirine, sapphirine + cordierite + orthopyroxene and garnet+ orthopyroxene + spinel have been delineated on the basis ofPT and T–X pseudosections. Sapphirine did not appearin the bulk composition of XMg = 0·53. A partial petrogeneticgrid applicable to high Mg–Al granulites metamorphosedat high fO2, developed in our earlier work, was extended tohigher pressures. The experimental results were successfullyapplied to several high-grade terranes to estimate PTconditions and retrograde PT trajectories. Previous studies of metapelitic rocks from the core of the southernBrittany metamorphic belt suggest a complex clockwise PTevolution. We use pseudosections calculated for an average subaluminousmetapelite composition in the MnNCKFMASH system and averagePT calculations to investigate in more detail the metamorphicevolution of these rocks. For migmatites, sequential occurrenceof kyanite, kyanite + staurolite and sillimanite suggests thata prograde evolution to P > 8 kbar at T  相似文献

Dehydration-melting of Biotite Gneiss and Quartz Amphibolite from 3 to 15 kbar   总被引:80,自引:20,他引:60
We performed vapor-absent melting and crystallization experimentson two bulk compositions that model metamorphic rocks containinga single hydrous phase: a biotite gneiss [37% bio (mg-number55), 34% qtz, 27% plg (An38), 2% ilm] and a quartz amphibolite[54% hbl (mg-number 60), 24% qtz, 20% plg (An38), 2% ilm]. Experimentswere performed at 3 and 5 kbar in internally heated pressurevessels (IHPV), and at 7, 10, 125 and 15 kbar in piston cylinderapparatus (PC), from the vapor-absent solidi to (at least) thetemperature at which the hydrous mineral disappeared. Dehydration-meltingbegins at similar temperatures in both bulk compositions, rangingfrom T850C at P = 3 kbar T930C at P = 15 kbar. The hydrousmineral disappears 50C above the solidus in both systems, exceptin IHPV experiments at f(O2) above Ni–NiO, in which biotitestability extends up to atleast 80C above the solidus. At theT at which the hydrous minerals disappear the biotite gneissproduces 2–3 times more melt than the quartz amphibolite(50–60 wt% vs 20–30 wt%). In both systems, variationsin melt productivity with P are controlled by three competingfactors: (1) the positive d P/dT slopes of the solidi, (2) decreasingH2O activity with increasing P at constant H2O content, and(3) Na2O activity, which increases with P concomitantly withbreakdown of plagioclase. Melt productivities at T = 920–950Care maximized at intermediate pressures (7 kbar). The biotitegneiss produces strongly peraluminous granitic melts (SiO2>70wt%) and residual assemblages of quartz norite (P>125 kbar)or garnet pyroxenite (P>125 kbar). The quartz amphiboliteproduces strongly peraluminous granodioritic melts (SiO2>70wt%) that coexist with clinopyroxene + orthopyroxene + plagioclase+ quartz at P>10 kbar)garnet. The results of coupled meltingand crystallization experiments on the quartz amphibolite suggestthat strongly peraluminous granitoid rocks (e.g. cordierite-bearingand two-mica granites) can be derived from melting of Al-poorprotoliths. Biotite + plagioclase + quartz (BPQ) is a common assemblagein gneisses, metasediments and metamorphosed granitic to granodioriticintrusions. Melting experiments on an assemblage consistingof 24 vol. % quartz, 25 vol. % biotite (XMg = 0·38–0·40),42 vol. % plagioclase (An26–29), 9 vol. % alkali feldsparand minor apatite, titanite and epidote were conducted at 10,15 and 20 kbar between 800 and 900°C under fluid-absentconditions and with small amounts (2 and 4 wt %) of water addedto the system. At 10 kbar when 4 wt % of water was added tothe system the biotite melting reaction occurred below 800°Cand produced garnet + amphibole + melt. At 15 kbar the meltingreaction produced garnet + amphibole + melt with 2 wt % addedwater. At 20 kbar the amphibole occurred only at high temperature(900°C) and with 4 wt % added water. In this last case themelting reaction produced amphibole + clinopyroxene ±garnet + melt. Under fluid-absent conditions the melting reactionproduced garnet + plagioclase II + melt and left behind a plagioclaseI ± quartz residuum, with an increase in the modal amountof garnet with increasing pressure. The results show that itis not possible to generate hornblende in such compositionswithout the addition of at least 2–4 wt % H2O. This reflectsthe fact that conditions of low aH2O may prevent hornblendefrom being produced with peraluminous granitic liquids fromthe melting of biotite gneiss. Thus growth of hornblende inanatectic BPQ gneisses is an indication of addition of externalH2O-rich fluids during the partial melting event. On the basis of the net transfer reactions among garnet, biotite, plagioclase and quartz (for both Mg and Fe end-member models),the garnet–biotite–plagioclase–quartz (GBPQ)geobarometer was empirically calibrated under physical conditionsof P = 1·0–11·4 kbar and T = 515–878°C,based on the input garnet–biotite temperatures and garnet–aluminosilicate–plagioclase–quartz(GASP) pressures of 224 natural aluminosilicate-bearing metapeliticsamples collated from the literature. The calibrations are internallyconsistent with the asymmetric quaternary solid solution modelof garnet, the symmetric quaternary solid solution model ofbiotite, and the Al-avoidance ternary solid solution model ofplagioclase in calibrating the garnet–biotite geothermometerand the GASP geobarometer. The resulting two GBPQ barometerformulae reproduce the input GASP pressures well within ±1·0kbar (mostly within ±0·5 kbar). For both aluminosilicate-bearingand aluminosilicate-absent metapelites, the two GBPQ barometryformulae yielded identical pressures, whether the sample wasincluded or not included in calibrating the GBPQ barometry. The random error of the GBPQ barometry may be expected as ±1·2kbar. The dP/dT slopes of these two GBPQ formulae are closeto that of the GASP barometer in PT space. Applicationsof the GBPQ barometry of aluminosilicate-absent metapelitesto the rocks within a thermal contact aureole, or rocks withina limited geographical area without post-metamorphic structuraldiscontinuity, show no obvious pressure change. It may be concludedthat the two GBPQ barometry formulae derived in this study maybe used as practical tools for metamorphic pelites under theconditions of 515–878°C and 1·0–11·4kbar, in the composition range of Xgros >3% in garnet, Xan>17% in plagioclase, and  相似文献
