Abstract The Kyokpori Formation (Cretaceous), south‐west Korea, represents a small‐scale lacustrine strike‐slip basin and consists of an ≈ 290 m thick siliciclastic succession with abundant volcaniclasts. The succession can be organized into eight facies associations representing distinctive depositional environments: (I) subaqueous talus; (II) delta plain; (III) steep‐gradient large‐scale delta slope; (IV) base of delta slope to prodelta; (V) small‐scale nested Gilbert‐type delta; (VI) small‐scale delta‐lobe system; (VII) subaqueous fan; and (VIII) basin plain. Facies associations I, III and IV together constitute a large‐scale steep‐sloped delta system. Correlation of the sedimentary succession indicates that the formation comprises two depositional sequences: the lower coarsening‐ to fining‐upward succession (up to 215 m thick) and the upper fining‐upward succession (up to 75 m thick). Based on facies distribution, architecture and correlation of depositional sequences, three stages of basin evolution are reconstructed. Stage 1 is represented by thick coarse‐grained deposits in the lower succession that form subaqueous breccia talus and steep‐sloped gravelly delta systems along the northern and southern basin margins, respectively, and a sandy subaqueous fan system inside the basin, abutting against a basement high. This asymmetric facies distribution suggests a half‐graben structure for the basin, and the thick accumulation of coarse‐grained deposits most likely reflects rapid subsidence of the basin floor during the transtensional opening of the basin. Stage 2 is marked by sandy black shale deposits in the upper part of the lower succession. The black shale is readily correlated across the basin margins, indicating a basinwide transgression probably resulting from large‐scale dip slip suppressing the lateral slip component on basin‐bounding faults. Stage 3 is characterized by gravelly delta‐lobe deposits in the upper succession that are smaller in dimension and located more basinward than the deposits of marginal systems of the lower succession. This lakeward shift of depocentre suggests a loss of accommodation in the basin margins and quiescence of fault movements. This basin evolution model suggests that the rate of dip‐slip displacement on basin‐margin faults can be regarded as the prime control for determining stacking patterns of such basin fills. The resultant basinwide fining‐upward sequences deviate from the coarsening‐upward cycles of other transtensional basins and reveal the variety of stratigraphic architecture in strike‐slip basins controlled by the changes in relative sense and magnitude of fault movements at the basin margins.  相似文献

The study area is the Erzurum pull-apart basin located in the East Anatolian Tectonic Block (EATB), which is under the control of a strike-slip neotectonic regime since the beginning of Quaternary. The Quaternary Erzurum pull-apart basin is an about 1-30 km wide, 90 km long and actively growing strike-slip depression. It is bounded by the Erzurum-Dumlu sinistral strike-slip fault zone to the east-southeast, by the Askale sinistral strike-slip fault zone to the north-northwest, and by the Baskoy-Kandilli reverse fault zone and the N-S-trending Ilica oblique-slip normal fault set to the west. The Erzurum pull-apart basin was evolved by the deformation and subdivision of an E-W-trending older intermontane basin. The new basin has a 0.5 km thick, flat-lying (undeformed) and uconsolidated fill, which overlies, with an angular unconformitry, the deformed (folded and faulted) basement rocks of pre-Quaternary age. Basin fill consists of coarser-grained marginal facies (fault terrace, fan, fan-apron and superimposed fan deposits) and finer-grained depocentral facies represented by flood plain to organic material-rich marsh deposits. All gradations are seen among these lithofacies.The seismicity of the Erzurum pull-apart basin is quite high. The magnitude of the peak earthquake to be sourced from the active faults (e.g., the Erzurum fault) is about Mw = 7.0. This was proved by both the historical and recent earthquakes. Numerous settlements in the size of a large city (e.g., Erzurum), county, town and small villages with a total population of over 766,000 are located in and along the active fault-bounded margins of the Erzurum pull-apart basin. They are under the threat of destructive earthquakes to be sourced from the margin-boundary faults. Therefore, based on both the active fault parameters and the water-saturated basin fill, a large-scale earthquake hazard map has to be prepared. This map has to be used in both the earthquake hazard to risk analyses and the redesign of city planning and all type of constructions in Erzurum and other settlements in this region.  相似文献

Lake Hazar lies within a small pull-apart basin along the East Anatolian Transform Fault in south-eastern Turkey. Deltas are formed where streams debouch into the low-energy lacustrine environment. The facies constituting the deltas include delta plain debris flow, braided stream, and marginal lacustrine deposits; delta front foreset and mouth bar deposits; prodelta and lacustrine deposits. The facies are spatially restricted with sharp transitions. Facies sequences and relationships indicate two distinct styles of deltaic sedimentation. Fan deltas with a tripartite structure characteristic of Gilbert-type deltas comprise the marginal drainage system and form along the basin margins. Mouth bar deltas develop where the axial drainage system of the basin debouches into the lake. The distribution of the two deltaic types is thought to be a function of gradient and controlled by position relative to faults within the basin.  相似文献

断裂陡坡带是沉积盆地重要的油气勘探区,对其扇体展布规律及其控制因素展开研究可揭示储层发育规律,指导油气勘探.综合利用录井、测井、三维地震资料,并结合区域轻重矿物、岩心沉积构造与粒度分析,对涠西南凹陷流一段沉积时期一号断裂陡坡带扇体的沉积类型及展布特征进行研究.结果显示陡坡扇体的发育具有明显分区性:陡坡西段发育大型下切沟谷,发育的扇体规模较大,呈不对称朵状,以粗粒的砂质碎屑流沉积为特征;陡坡中段发育带狭长水道的小型扇体,以发育悬移质为主的浊流沉积为特征;陡坡东段发育一系列小型沟谷水道及对应的对称状扇体.结合边界断裂活动、物源区母岩类型及古地貌分布特征分析,揭示了物源、构造、古地貌等要素对扇体的控制作用.陡坡西侧边界断裂活动较强、处于断层转换部位、物源供给充分,为大型粗质扇体形成提供条件;而陡坡中段与东段断裂活动和物源供给较弱、地形平缓,使其扇体发育规模相对较小.   相似文献

松辽地区西部斜坡英台地区姚家组二、三段,是在干旱一半干旱、源近流短、东倾陡坡背景下,在洪积扇前,由辫状河入湖形成的辫状河三角洲沉积。可明显区分出狭窄的辫状河三角洲平原,河口坝不太发育的辫状河三角洲前缘和夹浊积砂的辫状河前三角洲三种沉积亚相。辫状河三角洲平原由灰色含砾砂岩,粗、中砂岩,少量细砂岩,粉砂岩夹紫红色泥岩组成。具有明显的正韵律为特征。辫状河三角洲前缘沉积为灰色-绿灰色中、粗砂岩、细砂岩、少量的含砾砂岩,成正韵律或反韵律夹在灰绿色、灰黑色泥质岩中。辫状河前三角洲沉积多为灰绿色、灰黑色泥质岩,可夹少量砂质浊积岩。上述沉积特征明显地区别于正常河流三角洲沉积和扇三角洲沉积。  相似文献

ABSTRACT The early Pleistocene Laguna and Turlock Lake Formations and China Hat and Arroyo Seco Gravels along the east side of the San Joaquin Valley, California, were deposited in alluvial fans and marginal lakes. Upward-coarsening sequences of silt-sand-gravel record westward progradation of glacial outwash fans from the Sierra Nevada into proglacial lakes in the San Joaquin Valley. Distinctive sedimentary features delineate lacustrine, prodelta, and delta-front facies within fan-margin deposits and lower, middle, and upper-fan facies within alluvial-fan deposits. The lacustrine facies consists of a few metres of thinly and evenly bedded, rhythmically laminated claystone and clayey siltstone in varved couplets. Draped lamination, sinusoidal lamination, and load and pillar structures occur in some beds. Siltstone and claystone grade upward to slightly thicker wavy beds of siltstone and very fine-grained unconsolidated sand deposited in a prodelta setting. Convolute laminae within deformed steeply dipping foreset beds suggest slumping on the prodelta slope. The prodelta facies grades up to the delta-front facies, which consists of burrowed and bioturbated cross-bedded fine sand. Deltaic deposits are 5–6 m thick. The lower-fan facies forms the base of the fan sequence and consists of several metres of irregularly bedded, laminated, oxidized siltstone and fine sand. The middle-fan facies consists of cross-bedded, medium-grained to gravelly sand-filled channels cut into the lower-fan facies. Interbedded lens-shaped siltstone beds 2 m thick and several metres across were deposited in abandoned channels. The upper-fan facies consists of moderately to strongly weathered clayey gravel and sand containing pebble imbrication and crude stratification. Argillization during post-depositional soil formation has blurred the distinction between mud-supported debris-flow deposits and clast-supported channel deposits, but both are present in this facies. The deposits described here demonstrate the need for additional fan models in order to incorporate the variety of deposits developed in alluvial fan sequences deposited in humid climates. In previous models based on arctic fans, debris flows, abandoned channels, or widespread siltstone beds are not present in fan sequences, nor are marginal lacustrine and deltaic deposits well represented.  相似文献

为揭示白云凹陷文昌组构造演化与沉积充填间的耦合关系,基于三维地震数据和钻井、测井资料,采用层序原形结构剖面恢复、增强地震相分析、砂体地震扫描解释等新方法,对白云凹陷文昌组构造演化及其控制下的沉积充填过程进行了详细研究. 研究表明,响应于控凹断层“弱?极强?较强?弱”的活动过程,文昌组沉积期白云凹陷经历了初始断陷期(WCSQ1)、强断陷早期(WCSQ2)、强断陷晚期(WCSQ3)和弱断陷期(WCSQ4、WCSQ5)4个构造演化阶段. 相应地,白云主洼经历了河流?湖泊、超深湖发生、超深湖充填、深湖?浅湖发生等沉积演化过程. 其中旋转断块翘倾侧的北部缓坡带主要为河流?浅湖过渡环境,发育大?中型辫状河三角洲沉积体系;断块倾没侧的南部陡坡带主要为半深湖?深湖环境,发育近岸水下扇?扇三角洲沉积体系;湖盆中心为深湖?超深湖环境,以泥岩沉积为主,深湖区周缘发育湖底扇沉积;同时期白云东洼为陡坡+岩浆底侵形成的多隆洼地貌,以小型近岸水下扇?扇三角洲沉积体系为主,局部发育火山碎屑沉积. 文昌组沉积砂体的孔隙性受白云凹陷控凹断裂和岩浆的活动强度、物源体系及次级洼陷古地理特征等因素共同控制.   相似文献

济阳拗陷是中国东部主要含油气盆地,其地质构造相当复杂,是我国研究含油气盆地最典型的地区.本文以地震和钻井资料为基础,研究了构造对主要储层孔店组沉积体系的控制作用,为油气勘探和开发提供地质依据.孔店组具典型陆相走滑-伸展断陷盆地早期幕式充填的多物源、快速堆积的特征.砂质沉积体系以冲积扇和扇三角洲为主要类型,深洼内为干旱盐湖的膏盐层、灰岩层及韵律层理泥岩层沉积.3种类型的陡坡边界具有近岸沉积的共同特征,但沉积的平面和纵向分布存在差异.与陡坡边界类型相比较,缓坡边界沉积相类型相对简单,冲积扇及近岸水下扇不甚发育,相带宽,沉积物运移较远.  相似文献

The Doumsan fan-delta system in the Pohang Basin (Miocene), SE Korea comprises tripartite components of Gilbert-type topset, foreset, and bottomset environments with an extended prodelta in the deeper part (a few hundred metres deep). The present study documents sedimentologic features and origin of a gravel body (here interpreted as a gravel lobe) formed in the prodelta region of the Doumsan fan delta. The gravel lobe lies on sandy mud deposits and is capped by a thick massive sand bed. It extends for more than 1.5 km with a height of up to 30 m and shows a narrow tongue-like geometry. Eight sedimentary facies have been distinguished to describe characteristic features of the gravel lobe and the associated deposits. Of these, three types of gravelly sedimentary facies are important with regard to volumetric contribution and depositional processes: (1) crudely stratified pebble-grade conglomerate; (2) disorganized, clast-rich pebble(-to-cobble)-grade conglomerate; and (3) matrix-rich, bimodal cobble-grade conglomerate. The former two types dominate the central part of the lobe where they are not accompanied by sand beds, whereas the latter, as subordinate units, is prevalent in the fringe which otherwise is dominated by thick sandy mud deposits. The stacked successions of crudely stratified pebble-grade conglomerate are representative of the active aggradational phases of the gravel lobe, whereas the occurrence of channels within the lobe reflects that the gravel lobe prograded under the influence of subaqueous channel systems. The gravel lobe resulted from catastrophic disturbance (slumping) on the foreset region that further caused the development of channel systems, promoting efficient transport of gravelly sediments. This type of deposit may represent an important additional category of low-efficiency subaqueous fans.  相似文献

Sedimentary rocks of late Mesozoic age exposed at Camp Hill, northern Antarctic Peninsula, are associated with calc-alkaline volcanic rocks. They represent deposition on a fault-controlled floodplain, with marginal alluvial fans, on a volcanic arc. Finely laminated mudstone and occasional graded laminae were deposited from suspension and by density underflow currents, respectively, in small shallow lakes. Thickening- and coarsening-upward sandstone bodies overlying the lake deposits are interpreted as lacustrine deltas of which two types are preserved: (1) Gilbert-type with steep foresets and (2) mouth-bar type which lack steep foresets. Sections through the latter type reveal the presence of sub-environments characteristic of fluvial-dominated marine deltas, i.e. prodelta, distributary mouth-bar and distributary channel. Abandoned mouth-bars resulting from avulsion are recognized. It is suggested that the processes which operated during formation of the mouth-bar deltas resulted from hyperpycnal flow. By contrast, the Gilbert-type delta is thought to be the consequence of a reduced inflow of suspended sediment causing homopycnal flow, and thorough mixing of the river and lake waters.  相似文献

The Maesan fan-delta-fed slope system in the Miocene Pohang Basin occurs between two Gilbert-type fan deltas. Detailed analysis of sedimentary facies and bed geometry reveals that the sequence is represented by 13 sedimentary facies. These facies can be organized into three facies associations, representing distinct depositional environments: alluvial fan (facies association I), steep-faced slope (facies association II), and basin plain (facies association III). Subaerial debris flows and dense, inertia-dominated currents were transformed into subaqueous sediment gravity flows in steep-faced slope environments. Further downslope, these flows were channelized and formed lobate conglomerate and sandstone bodies at the terminal edge of the channels (or chutes). Interchannel and interlobe areas were dominated by homogeneous mudstone and muddy sandstone, deposited by suspension settling of fine-grained materials. Part of the steep-faced slope deposits experienced large-scale slides and slumps. The chutes/channels, lobes and splays on the steep-faced slope of the Maesan system are similar to those in modern subaqueous coarse-grained fan-delta systems.  相似文献

通过详细的岩芯观察、录测井资料分析,并结合区域地质资料和前人研究成果,对白音查干凹陷下白垩统都红木组的沉积相特征和沉积演化进行了深入研究。结果表明,白音查干凹陷主要发育扇三角洲相、辫状河三角洲相、浊积扇相和湖泊相4种沉积相类型。其中,扇三角洲和浊积扇在陡峭的北坡发育,辫状河三角洲在宽缓的南坡沉积,湖泊相分布在扇三角洲和辫状河三角洲的侧翼及凹陷的中心。都红木组沉积时期白音查干凹陷处于强裂陷向坳陷转化阶段。根据残留地层分布特征,其沉积演化可分为早、中、晚3个时期,从早期至晚期,扇三角洲和辫状河三角洲的面积不断缩小,分别后退了约3km和4-11km,湖泊沉积成为主体。  相似文献

辽东苏子河盆地是早白垩世形成的小型断陷盆地,盆地内发育了相对连续的陆相沉积,是研究白垩纪陆地环境及气候演化的理想地区。早白垩世晚期沉积的聂尔库组地层出露连续,沉积现象典型。通过分析聂尔库组沉积岩类型、沉积构造、古生物化石及垂向沉积序列,可识别出扇三角洲相和湖泊相,其中扇三角洲相包括扇三角洲平原亚相、扇三角洲前缘亚相和前扇三角洲亚相,湖泊相主要为滨浅湖泥砂沉积。研究表明,聂尔库组形成于断陷盆地边缘陡坡带,属于间歇性洪水控制的扇三角洲—湖泊沉积体系,经历了扇三角洲—湖泊—扇三角洲的沉积环境变化,代表了断陷湖盆由深陷扩张期—抬升收缩早期的沉积充填过程。根据沉积岩与沉积相特征,结合古生物、特殊沉积、黏土矿物及地球化学资料,认为早白垩世晚期辽东地区总体与当时全球"温室气候"的大背景相一致,处于高温干旱/潮湿的气候条件,但这种高温气候具有不均一性,存在气候波动。  相似文献

The Kingston Peak Formation of the Pahrump Group in the Death Valley region of the Basin and Range Province, USA, is the thick (over 3 km) mixed siliciclastic–carbonate fill of a long‐lived structurally‐complex Neoproterozoic rift basin and is recognized by some as a key ‘climatostratigraphic’ succession recording panglacial Snowball Earth events. A facies analysis of the Kingston Peak Formation shows it to be largely composed of ‘tectonofacies’ which are subaqueous mass flow deposits recording cannibalization of older Pahrump carbonate strata exposed by local faulting. Facies include siltstone, sandstone and conglomerate turbidites, carbonate megabreccias (olistoliths) and related breccias, and interbedded debrites. Secondary facies are thin carbonates and pillowed basalts. Four distinct associations of tectonofacies (‘base‐of‐scarp’; FA1, ‘mid‐slope’; FA2, ‘base‐of‐slope’; FA3, and a ‘carbonate margin’ association; FA4) reflect the initiation and progradation of deep water clastic wedges at the foot of fault scarps. ‘Tectonosequences’ record episodes of fault reactivation resulting in substantial increases in accommodation space and water depths, the collapse of fault scarps and consequent downslope mass flow events. Carbonates of FA4 record the cessation of tectonic activity and resulting sediment starvation ending the growth of clastic wedges. Tectonosequences are nested within regionally‐extensive tectono‐stratigraphic units of earlier workers that are hundreds to thousands of metres in thickness, recording the long‐term evolution of the rifted Laurentian continental margin during the protracted breakup of Rodinia. Debrite facies of the Kingston Peak Formation are classically described as ice‐contact glacial deposits recording globally‐correlative panglacials but they result from partial to complete subaqueous mixing of fault‐generated coarse‐grained debris and fine‐grained distal sediment on a slope conditioned by tectonic activity. The sedimentology (tectonofacies) and stratigraphy (tectonosequences) of the Kingston Peak Formation reflect a fundamental control on local sedimentation in the basin by faulting and likely earthquake activity, not by any global glacial climate.  相似文献

受制于钻井资料少及地质条件复杂,珠江口盆地白云主洼古近系文昌组三级层序格架内的沉积体系发育特征及沉积充填演化关系一直缺乏系统研究,严重制约着白云主洼深部地层的油气勘探。基于三维地震和钻井资料,采用层序原型结构剖面恢复、增强地震相分析、砂体地震扫描解释等新技术方法,重建白云主洼文昌组三级层序的沉积体系,并结合主洼构造演化特征,还原文昌组的沉积充填演化过程。结果表明: 白云主洼文昌组发育4个“源-汇”体系,分别为西北缓坡带纯陆源碎屑的大型辫状河三角洲—湖泊相沉积、东北斜坡带陆源与火山碎屑混源的大—中型辫状河三角洲—湖泊相沉积、西南轴向陡坡带纯陆源碎屑的近岸水下扇和扇三角洲—湖泊相沉积、东南陡坡带陆源与火山碎屑混源的小型近岸水下扇及扇三角洲—湖泊相沉积。白云主洼文昌组沉积时期的演化过程可大致分为河流(WCSQ1下段)、河流—湖泊(WCSQ1上段)、超深湖发育(WCSQ2下段)、超深湖早期充填(WCSQ2上段)、超深湖充填(WCSQ3、WCSQ4)、浅湖发育(WCSQ5)等6个发育阶段,湖盆经历了初始成盆、强烈断陷为超深湖、被大规模沉积充填为深湖—半深湖,最后直至充填为浅湖的沉积演化过程。  相似文献

新疆拜城地区发育一套新近纪巨厚的陆相碎屑沉积岩系,其中康村组中上部含规模较大的沉积型铜矿,康村组的沉积环境及演化过程对铜矿的形成具有重要意义。基于野外和室内详细的沉积学研究,查明研究区新近系吉迪克组、康村组和库车组总体上为陆相沉积体系,主要包括冲积扇-扇三角洲沉积体系和湖泊沉积体系两大类型,划分为扇三角洲平原、扇三角洲前缘、前扇三角洲、滨浅湖和膏盐湖亚相及若干沉积微相。研究表明研究区康村期主要发育扇三角洲沉积,矿区主要含矿层位于康村组上部红色岩系向灰色岩系转变,沉积环境从扇三角洲前缘亚相到滨浅湖亚相过渡的层位上。  相似文献

以岩心、录井、测井、分析化验和地震资料为基础,结合区域地质背景,对高邮凹陷北斜坡戴二段沉积相类型、展布及其演化规律进行研究。在总结、比较各类型三角洲特征的前提下,认定北斜坡戴二段主要发育辫状河三角洲相,局部发育曲流河三角洲和湖泊相。在此基础上,重点对戴二段辫状河三角洲各亚相、微相进行分析,划分出辫状河三角洲平原、辫状河三角洲前缘和前辫状河三角洲亚相,并针对各亚相对其包含的微相进行进一步划分。在综合考虑目标区域沉积背景和沉积特征的基础上,对沉积相展布和演化进行分析,并对辫状河三角洲形成机理进行了探讨。  相似文献

The Meteora conglomerate is a thick, coarse-grained unit of Oligo-Miocene age in the Meso-Hellenic basin consisting of Gilbert-type delta deposits (wedge-shaped bodies) and deep channel fills. Gilbert-type deltas prograded from the eastern margin basinward, perpendicular to the NW-SE basin axis. Delta bodies are thicker in the distal portion, where the dip of the foresets is lower than in the proximal area. Organized and disorganized conglomerates coexist, suggesting a mixture of mass- and turbulent-flow processes. The mass flow deposits seem to prevail in the uppermost part of the foresets. Channels (up to 25 m deep) are cut into the Gilbert-type delta deposits, and have axes perpendicular to the progradational trend of the deltas. Giant bars displaying accretion of the downstream side formed inside the channels. The channels were probably cut into Gilbert-delta deposits due to uplift of the source area or to a fall in sea-level. Although large cross-sets of both Gilbert delta and channels have been formed by progradation, they can be distinguished by: (i) angle of foreset bed dips, (ii) facies and textures and (iii) vertical sequences. Differences in these features aid in distinguishing Gilbert-type deltas from in-channel bars.  相似文献

通过大量的野外剖面观察和盆地内钻井岩心的详细描述,综合测井资料,从岩石类型、结构、沉积构造、古生物化石及测井曲线响应特征等方面对鄂尔多斯盆地及周缘地区下二叠统太原组和山西组沉积相特征进行了全面分析研究。结果表明,太原组主要发育陆棚、海岸、冲积扇和三角洲等沉积相,海岸沉积相包括障壁岛、潟湖和潮坪沉积,三角洲沉积相可划分为三角洲平原、三角洲前缘和前三角洲沉积。山西组主要发育冲积扇、河流、曲流河三角洲、湖泊和海岸沉积相,其中河流沉积相包括辫状河和曲流河沉积,曲流河三角洲沉积相可划分为曲流河三角洲平原、曲流河三角洲前缘和前三角洲沉积,而湖泊沉积相以浅湖沉积为主,海岸沉积主要为潟湖沉积。太原期,海相沉积占主导,主要分布于银川—榆林北部一线以南广大地区,并且从东西两侧至中部地区由浅海陆棚沉积和滨浅海过渡为潟湖沉积和潮坪沉积,其间发育障壁岛。盆地西北缘发育冲积扇和扇三角洲沉积,北部广大地区以三角洲沉积为主,自北向南依次为三角洲平原和三角洲前缘沉积。山西期,海水从盆地东南部退却,整体演变为海陆过渡相沉积,盆地北部乌达—杭锦旗—鄂尔多斯一线发育冲积扇沉积,向南至靖边一带依次发育辫状河和曲流河沉积,靖边以南至延安以北地区以三角洲平原沉积为主,向南至同心—庆阳一线发育三角洲前缘沉积,盆地南部彭阳—泾阳地区主要为浅湖沉积,再向南发育物源来自南部的三角洲沉积,在东南部武乡—义马一带为潟湖沉积。  相似文献
