Desert pavement comprises a surficial layer of gravel clasts and cobbles underlain by dust and silt that mantles mature alluvial surfaces in arid regions around the world. Once thought to originate from either deflation or expansion and contraction of wet desert soils, desert pavement is now known to form in place from the aeolian accumulation of dust beneath a surface layer of gravel. Desert pavement affects the type and distribution of desert plants on arid land surfaces, as well as inhibits the activities of small burrowing animals. Considerable debate surrounds the age of pavement surfaces and how well they survive changes in climatic conditions. Some researchers maintain that most desert pavements developed during the Holocene, whereas others indicate that some of the oldest surface soils on the planet are desert pavements in the Middle East.  相似文献

通过对喀斯特地区乔木林、灌木林和草丛不同植被类型覆盖下的土面、石面、石缝、石沟、石洞、石槽和石坑7类小生境土壤样品分析测定,探讨了小生境土壤矿物组成及有机碳的空间异质性特征。结果表明:(1)不同植被类型下土壤矿物组成存在明显差异,即从草丛→灌木林→乔木林,小生境土壤中的石英、高岭石基本保持不变,但草丛土壤中的白云石矿物全部消失,灌木林、乔木林土壤中逐渐出现绿泥石;(2)随着植被正向演替,土壤有机碳含量显著增加,小生境土壤有机碳含量在不同植被类型条件下存在明显的异质性,表现为草丛>乔木林>灌木林。与此同时,以小生境土壤有机碳含量及变异系数为评价因子,分别对乔木林、灌木林及草丛中小生境有机碳进行聚类分析,结果显示,小生境微地貌特征是土壤有机碳含量及空间变异性的重要影响因子。对于土壤有机碳保护,草丛及灌木林区应以提高植被覆盖率为主;乔木林区则主要是保持现有良好的植被状况,减少人为干扰。   相似文献

Two types of microtopographic features (plant scar mounds and plant scar depressions) on surfaces of barren desert pavements provide a unique record of the former presence of large perennial plants. Evidence of bioturbation by burrowing animals extends more than 1 m beneath each type of plant scar, indicating that both features originated as large bioturbation mounds. Formation of bioturbation mounds in desertscrub environments is generally restricted to areas beneath widely separated, large perennial plants. The contrasting forms of plant scars (mounds vs. depressions) represent time-dependent changes following disappearance of the large plants and eventual cessation of bioturbation. Plant scar mounds represent a geologically recent episode of plant mortality, whereas plant scar depressions represent the disappearance of plants at a considerably earlier time, possibly at the Pleistocene-Holocene transition. Contrasting spatial distributions of the two kinds of plant scars indicate that vegetation on alluvial fans has progressively contracted from a more diffuse, former vegetation cover, yielding the wide, barren pavement surfaces present today. In less arid portions of the Sonoran Desert, spatial distribution of recent plant mortality due to persistent, severe drought provides an analog of the progressive loss of plants from different parts of the landscape in the past.  相似文献

土壤碳库在陆地生态系统碳循环中起着关键性的作用。在对吉林西部进行为期6年(2004-2009年)的环境调查基础上,采集了217个土壤剖面,获取了2 170个土壤样品的平均容重、含水率和有机碳含量,分析了不同土地利用类型下土壤有机碳(SOC)的垂向分布特征、原因和机理。结果表明:不同土地利用类型的土壤有机碳垂向分布表现出截然不同的特征,大致可分为“下降型”、“上升型”和“不变型”3种。呈下降型的草地、农田、湿地等SOC含量主要富集在0~30 cm耕作层,并随深度增加而快速下降;滩地为上升型,良好的水文条件和相对茂盛的植物为有机质提供了有利条件;不变型包括盐碱地、林地和沙地,SOC含量处于全区最低水平。不同土地利用类型的土壤有机碳密度差异很大,从大到小依次为水田、草地、旱田、湿地、退化草地、滩地、林地、沙地、盐碱地,其中水田为(169.25±17.70) t/hm2,盐碱地为 (26.50±10.00) t/hm2。植被生物量和土壤理化性质是影响土壤有机碳含量的主要因素。  相似文献

The time at which deserts established their current arid or hyper-arid conditions remains a fundamental question regarding the history of Earth. Cosmogenic isotope exposure ages of desert pavement and welded, calcic–gypsic–salic Reg soils that developed on relatively flat alluvial surfaces ~2 Ma ago in the Negev Desert indicate long geomorphic stability under extremely dry conditions. Over a short interval during their initial stage of development between 1–2 Ma, these cumulative soils are characterized by calcic soils reaching maximum stage III of carbonate morphology. This interval is the only period when calcic soil horizons formed on stable abandoned alluvial surfaces in the southern Negev Desert. Since ~1 Ma pedogenesis changed toward more arid soil environment and the formation of gypsic–salic soil horizons that were later followed by dust accumulation. The dichotomy of only moderately-developed calcic soil (stages II–III) during a relatively long time interval (105–106 years) indicates an arid environment that does not support continuous development but only occasional calcic soil formation. The very low δ18O and relatively high δ13C values of these early pedogenic carbonates support soil formation under arid climatic conditions. Such an environment was probably characterized by rare and relatively longer duration rainstorms which occasionally allowed deeper infiltration of rainwater and longer retention of soil moisture. This, in turn enabled the growth of sparse vegetation that enhanced deposition of pedogenic carbonate. At ~1 Ma these rare events of slightly wetter conditions ceased and less atmospheric moisture reached the southern Negev Desert leading to deposition of soluble salts and dust deposited in the soils. The combination of long-term hyperaridity, scarcity of vegetation and lack of bioturbation, salts cementation, dust accumulation and tight desert pavement cover, has protected the surfaces from erosion forming one of the most remarkably stable landscapes on Earth, a landscape that essentially has not eroded, but accumulated salt and dust for more than 106 yr.  相似文献

陆地和大气之间是相互作用、相互影响的,不仅陆面分布与地表过程对大气变化有着响应过程,而且陆面物理过程、地表特征分布对大气过程也有着重要影响。我国西北地区地形分布极不均匀,是水资源变化和气候变化的敏感区与脆弱地区。这里,由于海拔高度起伏造就了以水为主线的上游山区冰雪、冻土—中游森林、绿洲—下游戈壁荒漠的多个自然景观带共存的内陆河流域,是开展陆—气相互作用研究的理想场所。文章集中黑河流域水循环过程、冰雪/冻土与大气相互作用、降水异质性、人类活动影响以及尺度等问题,阐述了流域研究现状以及研究热点,指出发挥各学科优势,将大尺度的大气过程与中间尺度和小尺度的陆面水文/生态过程结合,建立流域尺度大气—水文—生态过程真正的双向耦合模式,不仅研究气候变化对陆面水文、生态的影响,同时探讨陆面小尺度过程对大气的反馈机理,探索流域尺度的水循环过程和驱动机理,为水资源合理利用提供理论基础。  相似文献

Desertification is the major environmental threat in the arid and semiarid regions. The soil-adjusted vegetation index (SAVI) was used as an indicator to monitor the desertification change in Egypt. A multi-temporal satellite data of moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer were used to estimate SAVI and land surface temperature. Also, Global Multi-resolution Terrain Elevation Data 2010 and climatic data were used for the analysis. This research focuses on assessing the trend of the vegetation cover change in the seasons of January, March, June, September, and December for the years 2002, 2005, 2008, and 2011. The magnitude of the vegetation cover change in periods 2002–2005, 2005–2008, and 2008–2011 at ≤100 and >100 m elevation was analyzed. A major increase in the vegetation cover that occurred in the period 2002–2005 was about 3,400 km2, as a result of two national megaprojects (Toshka Project and El-Salam Canal). In contrast, vegetation cover decreased by 5,500 km2 in March during the period 2005–2008, coinciding with the period when the management of the megaprojects failed. Vegetation cover changed again by 1,500 km2 in the period of 2008–2011, and the vegetated areas in the Nile Delta were affected by the sea level rising which was responsible for the soil salinization. Three sites were chosen in this investigation (Kom Ombo, El-Oweinat, and Nile Delta) in order to observe the difference of desertification dynamics and to understand the relationship between the vegetation cover distribution and other environmental variables. Anti-desertification policies and advanced agricultural management are highly required in Egypt to decrease any environmental crises and food shortage.  相似文献

Kuwait experienced severe land degradation over the last 30 years due to different factors. This is reflected in soil loss, crusting, salinization, oil contamination, and vegetation cover deterioration. The recent surface deposits are considered as the local source of sand and dust storms, which have acute environmental hazards on the public health, the State’s economy, and the life quality. They are classified into two main categories: desert and coastal deposits. The distribution of the areas affected by deflation processes and those affected by depositional processes revealed that the northern desert of Kuwait is receiving intense sand supply, but on the other hand, the southern desert of Kuwait has a lower frequency of sand deposits. This study is based on visual comparison between the records of the 1980s and recent field surveys during 2001–2011, as they are the available sources of the relevant information to the scope of the study, to investigate the impact of the anthropogenic activities, the significant role of the aeolian processes, soil type, and climatic conditions on the land degradation, and subsequently the severe loss of vegetation and surfacial cover. A detailed sedimentomorphic map, scale 1:100,000, was prepared for the State of Kuwait based on the topographic map of Kuwait (scales 1:50,000, 1:100,000, and 1:250,000) and photomaps (scale 1:29,000), which were created as per the delineated information from the aerial photos (scale 1:29,000, years 1990, 2001) along with spectral and spatial resolution data of the Radarsat, Landsat-7, IRS-1D (Indian Remote Sensing), ERS, TM, SPOT-4, Advanced Space-borne Thermal Emission and Reflection, and IKANOS data in raw format for Kuwait images for the available years (1989, 1994, and 2000–2004), keeping in view of the terrain in Kuwait and the objective of the study.  相似文献

云南全省石漠化土地面积占国土面积的2.2%。岩溶地区石漠化土地面积占区域国土面积的4.1%,占岩溶面积的7.92%。近25年来石漠化土地面积增长速度约147.5km^2/a。分布特点是:(1)与碳酸盐岩地层的分布相一致,是强岩溶化地区或剧烈水土流失区;(2)岩溶区相对集中连片分布;(3)与区域性新构造运动、地貌演化密切相关;(4)在微地貌及景观方面有地区性特征。主要危害是:(1)植被及土壤同时丧失,土地产出率下降,环境容量减小,最后导致人类及一切生物的生存环境劣变;(2)环境对降雨的调蓄能力差,水资源环境恶化,可有效利用的水资源减少;(3)旱、涝灾、水土流失、泥沙淤积等自然灾害频繁,直接危害人类生命及财产。防治对策是:科学规划、合理开发和调蓄表层岩溶水资源;整治土地,改善土地利用结构;因地制宜培植当地名特优物种,发展生态农业;控制人口数量,提高人口素质;开展生态恢复性建设示范工程;组织系统的调查、实验及工程防治研究工作。  相似文献

Dimensional stones with a black color occupy a prominent place on the international market. Uruguayan dolerite dikes of andesitic and andesitic–basaltic composition are mined for commercial blocks of black dimensional stones. A total of 16 dikes of both compositions were studied and samples collected for geochemical and petrographical analysis. Color measurements were performed on different black dimensional stones in order to compare them with the Uruguayan dolerites. Samples of the two commercial varieties (Absolute Black and Moderate Black) were obtained for petrophysical analysis (e.g. density, porosity, uniaxial compressive strength, tensile strength, etc.). Detailed structural analyses were performed in several quarries. Geochemistry and petrography determines the intensity of the black color. The Uruguayan dolerite Absolute Black is the darkest black dimensional stone analyzed in this study. The petrophysical properties of Uruguayan dolerites make them one of the highest quality black dimensional stones. Structural analyses show that five joint sets have been recognized: two sub-vertical joints, one horizontal and two diagonal. These joint sets are one of the most important factors that control the deposits, since they control the block size distribution and the amount of waste material.  相似文献

In response to the lack of studies focussing on the residence time of molecular biomarkers in soils, the lipid content of three soil profiles from the French Massif Central with different land use history were examined. The free neutral lipid content of two reference soil profiles developed under grassland and forest vegetation, and of a former grassland soil converted to forest about 60 years ago, was analysed using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Wax esters as well as the ratio of major homologues of n-alkanes and n-alkan-2-ones could be used to characterise the overlying vegetation in the reference forest and grassland soil profiles, but failed to distinguish the respective grassland and forest contributions to the profile of the soil that had changed use. For n-alkanes and n-alkan-2-ones, the failure might be attributed either to mixing of the molecular patterns inherited from the former and current plant cover, whereas for compounds such as wax esters simple degradation is likely to be involved. Conversely, iso- and anteiso-C15:0 fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs; of bacterial origin), steroids (tracing cattle faecal contamination), tricyclic diterpenoids and their oxygenated derivatives, as well as methoxyserratenes (inherited from Pinaceae) and triterpenyl acetates (specific to the Asteraceae), proved to be effective in distinguishing current land use for the reference soil profiles and for the converted soil. The persistence of these compounds in the changed use soil allowed us to estimate their residence time in soil.  相似文献

Remote sensing data can be used as the basis for meteorological data. Due to the limitations of meteorological stations on the Earth, derivation of land surface temperature is one of the most important aspects of the remote sensing application in climatology studies. In the present study, Landsat-8 thermal infrared sensor data of the scene located over Khuzestan province with row/path of 165/38 were used to derive land surface temperature (LST). Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), fraction of vegetation cover, satellite brightness temperature, and land surface emissivity were calculated as the vital criteria to derive LSTs using the split window algorithms. LST determination was performed by nine different split window algorithms. Eventually, LST products were evaluated using ground-based measurements at the meteorological stations of the study area. The results showed that algorithm of Coll and Casselles had a highest accuracy with RMSE 1.97 °C, and Vidal’s method presented the lowest accuracy to derive LST with RMSE 4.11 °C. According to the results, regions with high density of vegetation and water resources have lowest diurnal temperature and regions with bare soils and low density of vegetation have a highest diurnal temperature. Results of the study indicated that LST algorithm accuracy is an important factor in the environmental and climate change studies.  相似文献

Based on the pollen spectrum characteristics of 46 surface samples collected in the western Tianshan Mountains of Xinjiang and a plant community quadrat survey, we analyzed the relationship between pollen assemblages and modern climate and vegetation distribution in the region. The results showed the surface pollen assemblages were consistent with the distribution of modern vegetation. Based on the results of cluster analysis, the study area could be divided into three pollen assemblage zones(mountain steppe zone, desert vegetation zone and typical desert zone). In general, pollen assemblage can roughly reflect the main characteristics of local vegetation, but there are significant differences in the percentage of some pollen types and the coverage of related plants. The pollen of Picea and Pinus in arbor plants, Ephedra in shrub plants, Chenopodiaceae and Artemisia in herb plants were high represented due to the influence of natural wind, water flow and their own pollen yield. While Rosaceae pollen in shrubs and Poaceae in herbs were less representative in a modern plant community with its own dominant species;The Artemisia and Chenopodiaceae(A/C)ratio can distinguish the desert zone from the mountain steppe zone, and could clearly reflect the aridity level. However, when using this indicator to reconstruct the climate environment, it is necessary to combine the characteristics of pollen assemblage and the influence of changes in vegetation composition and other factors to distinguish;Altitude, average annual precipitation, and average annual temperature all affect the distribution of surface pollen in the area. © 2022 The authors.  相似文献

土壤有机碳库是陆地碳库的主要组成部分,并在陆地碳循环研究中有着重要作用。根据甘肃省兰州—白银地区多目标地球化学测量数据,结合各土壤类型分布面积,估算表层土壤(0~20 cm)有机碳密度和储量,并探讨其空间分布特征。研究表明,兰州—白银地区表层土壤有机碳平均密度为1.52~7.73 kg/m^2。在空间分布上,榆中县有机碳密度最高,达2.69 kg/m^2,会宁县有机碳密度最低,仅1.56 kg/m^2,总体上呈四周高,中间低的趋势。从土壤类型上看,草甸土有机碳密度最高,达7.73 kg/m^2,灰褐土、栗钙土和石质土次之,为2.96~5.18 kg/m^2,红黏土及淡灰钙土有机碳密度较低,仅为1.52~1.53 kg/m^2。从土地利用现状看,林地有机碳密度最高,这与气候、植被、人类活动有关。  相似文献

The water resource and its change of mountainous area are very important to the oasis economic system and ecosystem in the arid areas of northwest China. Accurately understanding the water transfer and circulation process among vegetation, soil, and atmosphere over different hydrological units in mountainous areas such as snow and ice, cold desert, forest and grassland is the basic scientific issue of water research in cold and arid regions, which is also the basis of water resource delicacy management and regulation. There are many research results on the hydrological function of different land covers in mountain areas, basin hydrological processes, however, there are only very limited studies on the water internal recycle at basin scale. The quantitative study on the mechanism of water internal recycle is still at the starting stage, which faces many challenges. The key project “Study on water internal recycle processes and mechanism in typical mountain areas of inland basins, Northwest China” funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China will select the Aksu River and Shule River Basin, which have better observation basis, as study area. The internal mechanism of moisture transfer and exchange process of different land cover and atmosphere, the internal mechanism of water cycle in the basin, and water transfer paths in atmosphere will be studied through enhancing runoff plot experiments on different land cover, analyzing the mechanism of water vapor transfer and exchange between different land covers in the watershed by isotope tracing on the water vapor flux of vegetation water, soil moisture and atmospheric moisture, improving the algorithms of remote sensing inversion and ground verification on land surface evapotranspiration on different land cover, and analyzing the water vapor flux from reanalysis data, and the coupling modeling of regional climate model and land surface process model. At last, the effect of different land cover in hydrological process of mountain area, and the impact of land cover on downstream oasis will be systematically analyzed.  相似文献

The Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm (LRA) with the two models REVEALS and LOVE is developed to transform pollen percentage data to vegetation cover. This paper presents the first study to evaluate LRA in a region with large topographic variations within a short distances. The REVEALS model estimates regional vegetation abundance based on pollen assemblages from large lakes (100–500 ha). Pollen surface samples from one large and 28 small lakes are used together with a combination of regionally derived pollen productivity estimates and available estimates from other regions of Europe. The results show a good relationship between REVEALS‐estimated forest cover and vegetation abundance based on the CORINE land‐cover data. The REVEALS results using various sets of pollen assemblages from small lakes were comparable to those using one large lake. Local vegetation abundance using the LOVE model was estimated around 26 lakes. For common taxa, such as Pinus and Poaceae, the LOVE‐based estimates of plant abundance match well with the distance‐weighted plant abundances based on vegetation maps. Our results indicate that the LRA approach is effective for reconstruction of long‐term vegetation changes in western Norway and other regions with high topographic relief when no major gradients exist in the pollen data.  相似文献

利用MODIS NDVI数据、同期地表水热组合数据和植被类型数据,对2000-2014年蒙古高原生长季和三季(春、夏、秋季)植被覆盖时空演变特征及其对地表水热因子响应模式进行分析。研究表明:这15 a来,蒙古高原生长季及三季归一化植被指数NDVI均呈增加趋势,且呈显著增加趋势区域主要集中在内蒙古地区,一定程度上反映了该地区生态恢复工程的有效性。研究区植被覆盖变化与地表水分指数LSWI有密切的关系,因此证明研究区植被覆盖的增加归因于自然和人为因素的共同作用。不同类型植被NDVI均呈增加趋势,其中荒漠植被NDVI增加最明显,森林植被增加平缓,且存在季节性差异。此外,不同类型植被NDVI受水热因子影响也存在季节性差异。  相似文献

The Xinjiang-Tibet Highway(XTH)is a transportation corridor of manpower and supplies from inland regions to Tibet. The XTH has the highest altitude in China,which also has complex geological conditions and high distress ratio. The pavement distress was investigated completely to analyze the spatial distribution of pavement distress along the XTH and reveal the relationship among different types of distress. The distress ratio of 7 types of pavement distress was obtained and the relationship of pavement distress and ground surface temperature,altitude and vegetation cover was quantitatively fitted along the XTH. The result shows that,distress occurrence ratio of racking is has the largest percentage,which is the main reason to reduce the road condition. Pavement distress has a positive correlation and interaction with each other. One type of distress appears with the formation and development of other types of distress. The pavement cracking of the roadway with high altitude was obviously influenced by solar radiation and freeze-thaw cycle,which has a larger occurrence scale and development ratio than other regions. This paper reveals the relationship of each pavement distress and environmental factors,and provides a scientific basis and theoretical reference for the operation,maintenance and distress treatment of the XTH and planning Xingjiang-Tibet transportation corridor. © 2022 Science Press (China).  相似文献

为了解漓江流域土壤水分空间变化特征及其影响因素,基于2'经纬网格,采用地统计学方法对该流域表层(0~10 cm)土壤水分物理性质的空间变异进行分析。结果表明:从空间结构比上,漓江流域表层土壤含水量、容重、最大和最小持水量均具有高度的空间自相关性(各指标空间结构比均大于0.87),且其空间分布趋势基本一致,由流域上游向中下游逐渐变化。土地利用对流域表层土壤水分物理性质及其空间变异具有显著影响。受时间尺度和土地利用类型等因素的影响,漓江流域表层土壤含水量相比其他土壤水分物理性质,其空间异质性由随机引起的空间变异增加,空间自相关减小,为0.87;而土壤容重最大,为0.92。相关结果对于漓江流域土壤水分动态模拟与预测研究具有一定参考价值。  相似文献
