Estimation of mineral resources and reserves with low values of error is essential in mineral exploration. The aim of this study is to compare inverse distance weighted (IDW) and ordinary kriging (OK) methods based on error estimation in the Dardevey iron ore deposit, NE Iran. Anisotropic ellipsoid and variograms were calculated and generated for estimation of Fe distribution by both methods. Density, continuity of ore and waste, the number of points involved, and the discretization factor in the estimation of ore and waste boundaries were determined and the resource estimated by IDW and OK methods. Estimation errors were classified based on JORC standard, and both methods were compared due to distribution of error estimation. Results obtained by the study indicate that error estimation of OK method is less than IDW method and that the results of OK method are reliable.  相似文献

The coast of Honduras, Central America, represents the southern end of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, although its marine resources are less extensive and studied than nearby Belize and Mexico. However, the coastal zone contains mainland reef formations, mangroves, wetlands, seagrass beds and extensive fringing reefs around its offshore islands, and has a key role in the economy of the country. Like most tropical areas, this complex of benthic habitats experiences limited annual variation in climatic and oceanographic conditions but seasonal and occasional conditions, particularly coral bleaching and hurricanes, are important influences. The effects of stochastic factors on the country's coral reefs were clearly demonstrated during 1998 when Honduras experienced a major hurricane and bleaching event. Any natural or anthropogenic impacts on reef health will inevitably affect other countries in Latin America, and vice versa, since the marine resources are linked via currents and the functioning of the system transcends political boundaries. Much further work on, for example, movement of larvae and transfer of pollutants is required to delineate the full extent of these links.

Anthropogenic impacts, largely driven by the increasing population and proportion of people living in coastal areas, are numerous and include key factors such as agricultural run-off, over-fishing, urban and industrial pollution (particularly sewage) and infrastructure development. Many of these threats act synergistically and, for example, poor watershed management via shifting cultivation, increases sedimentation and pesticide run-off onto coral reefs, which increases stress to corals already affected by decreasing water quality and coral bleaching. Threats from agriculture and fishing are particularly significant because of the size of both industries. The desire to generate urgently required revenue within Honduras has also led to increased tourism which provides an over-arching stress to marine resources since most tourists spend time in the coastal zone. Hence the last decade has seen a dramatic increase in coastal development, a greater requirement for sewage treatment and more demand for freshwater, particularly in the Bay Islands.

Although coastal zone management is relatively recent in Honduras, it is gaining momentum from both large-scale initiatives, such as the Ministry of Tourism's ‘Bay Islands Environmental Management Project', and national and international NGO projects. For example, a series of marine protected areas and legislative regulations have been established, but management capacity, enforcement and monitoring are limited by funding, expertise and training. Existing and future initiatives, supported by increased political will and environmental awareness of stakeholders, are vital for the long-term economic development of the country.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this study, the distributed catchment-scale model, DiCaSM, was applied on five catchments across the UK. Given its importance, river flow was selected to study the uncertainty in streamflow prediction using the Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation (GLUE) methodology at different timescales (daily, monthly, seasonal and annual). The uncertainty analysis showed that the observed river flows were within the predicted bounds/envelope of 5% and 95% percentiles. These predicted river flow bounds contained most of the observed river flows, as expressed by the high containment ratio, CR. In addition to CR, other uncertainty indices – bandwidth B, relative bandwidth RB, degrees of asymmetry S and T, deviation amplitude D, relative deviation amplitude RD and the R factor – also indicated that the predicted river flows have acceptable uncertainty levels. The results show lower uncertainty in predicted river flows when increasing the timescale from daily to monthly to seasonal, with the lowest uncertainty associated with annual flows.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to identify geochemical anomalies using power spectrum–area (S–A) method based on the grade values of Cu, Mo and Au in 2709 soil samples collected from Kahang porphyry-type Cu deposit, Central Iran. S–A log–log plots indicated that there are three stages of Cu, Mo and Au enrichment. The third enrichment was considered as the main stage for the presence of Cu, Mo and Au at the concentrations above 416 ppm, 23 ppm and 71 ppb, respectively. Elemental anomalies are positively associated with monzo–granite–diorite and breccias units which are in the central and western parts of the deposit. The anomalies are located within the potassic, phyllic and argillic alteration types and also there is the positive correlation between the anomalies and nearing faults in the studied area. The results obtained via fractal model were interpreted accordingly to incorporate the information for the mineralized areas including detailed geological map, structural analysis and alterations. The results show that S–A multifractal modeling is applicable for anomalies delineation based on soil data.  相似文献

This study is an attempt to identify seismic zones utilizing number-size (N-S) and concentration-area (C-A) fractal models in the West Yazd province, Central Iran. The analysis was based on the earthquakes’ magnitude and Quaternary faults’ density. Fault density map was generated and classified by fractal modeling. The result indicates that the main fault densities correlate with Dehshir and Eqlid faults. Furthermore, the areas with relatively large earthquake magnitudes are located in the SE and NE parts of the region. The Quaternary faults’ density and earthquake magnitudes were weighted based on the results of the fractal modeling. Finally, weighted maps were combined and classified to show that Dehshir fault has the main role for seismicity in this area. Comparison between results derived via the fractal modeling and conventional seismic zonation map is satisfactory. Furthermore, fractal modeling approach distinguishes different seismic zones with higher accuracy in smaller areas. For validation of results, earthquakes since 2012 were collected and associated with seismic zones. These earthquakes which are correlated with major seismic zones are mainly located near the Dehshir and main Zagros faults.  相似文献

Geochemical anomaly separation using the concentration–area (C–A) method at Kahang (Gor Gor) porphyry system in Central Iran is studied in this work. Lithogeochemical data sets were used in this geochemical survey which was conducted for the exploration for Cu mineralization in dioritic and andesitic units at Kahang Cu–Mo porphyry system. Similar surveys were also carried out for Mo and Au exploration in these rock units. The obtained results have been interpreted using rather extensive set of information available for each mineralized area, consists of detailed geological mapping, structural interpretation and alteration data. Anomalous threshold values for the mineralized zone were computed and compared with the statistical methods based on the data obtained from chemical analysis of samples for the lithological units. Several anomalies at a local scale were identified for Cu (224 ppm), Mo (63 ppm), and Au (31 ppb), and the obtained results suggests existence of local Cu anomalies whose magnitude generally is above 1000 ppm. The correlation between these threshold values and ore grades is clearly interpreted in this investigation. Also, the log–log plots show existence of three stages of Cu enrichment, and two enrichment stages for Mo and Au. The third and most important mineralization event is responsible for the presence of Cu at grades above 1995 ppm. The identified anomalies in Kahang porphyry system, and distribution of the rock types, are mainly monzodiorite and andesitic units, do have special correlation with Cu and monzonitic and dioritic rocks, especially monzodioritic type, which is of considerable emphasis. The threshold values obtained for each element are always lower than their mean content in the rocks. The study shows threshold values for Cu is clearly above the mean rock content, being a consequence of the occurrence of anomalous accumulations of phyllic, argillic and propyllitic alterations within the monzonitic and dioritic rocks especially in monzodioritic type. The obtained results were compared with fault distribution patterns which reveal a positive direct correlation between mineralization in anomalous areas and the faults present in the mineralized system.  相似文献

Geochemical anomaly separation using the concentration–number (C–N) method at the Haftcheshmeh porphyry system in NW Iran is the aim of this study. We used lithogeochemical data sets to explore Cu, Mo, Au and Re mineralization in gabbroic, dioritic and monzonitic units at the Haftcheshmeh Cu–Mo porphyry system. The obtained results were interpreted using a rather extensive set of information available for each mineralized area, consisting of detailed geological mapping, structural interpretation and alteration data. Threshold values of elemental anomalies for the mineralized zone were computed and compared with the statistical methods based on the data obtained from chemical analyses of samples for the lithological units. Several anomalies at local scale were identified for Cu (40 ppm), Mo (12 ppm), Au (79 ppb), and Re (0.02 ppm), and the results suggest the existence of local Cu anomalies whose magnitude generally is above 500 ppm. The log–log plots show the existence of three stages of Cu and Mo enrichment, and two enrichment stages for Au and Re. The third and most important mineralization event is responsible for presence of Cu at grades above 159 ppm. The identified anomalies in Haftcheshmeh porphyry system, and distribution of the rock types, are mainly gabbrodiorite–monzodiorite, granodiorite and monzodiorite–diorite that have special correlation with Cu–Mo and gabbroic and monzonitic rocks, especially the gabbrodiorite–monzodiorite type, which is of considerable importance. The study shows that these elemental anomalous parts have been concentrated dominantly by potassic and phyllic, argillic and propylitic alterations within the gabbroic, monzonitic and dioritic rocks especially in the gabrodioritic type in certain parts of the area. The results, which were compared with fault distribution patterns, revealed a positive correlation between mineralization in anomalous areas and the faults present in the mineralized system.  相似文献
