采用组织化学、免疫组织化学和分光光度技术对栉孔扇贝(Chlamys farreri)鳃、唇瓣和口唇内的一氧化氮合酶(EC EC1.14.13.39;NOS)进行了研究。组织化学显示,鳃轴结缔组织内血细胞、血管内皮细胞、神经细胞、神经纤维呈NOS阳性;鳃丝的部分上皮细胞及血细胞呈NOS强阳性;唇瓣内部分上皮细胞、血细胞、神经细胞和神经纤维均呈NOS阳性;口唇有大量的神经纤维呈极强的NOS阳性。免疫组化显示,鳃和唇瓣血细胞、神经细胞、神经纤维和部分上皮细胞呈iNOS阳性。口唇内血细胞、神经细胞、神经纤维和部分上皮细胞呈nNOS和eNOS阳性,而呈iNOS强阳性。生化测定表明,tNOS活力和NO含量均为鳃轴中最高,鳃丝中次之,唇瓣中较低,口唇中最低,鳃丝内的NOS以cNOS为主;鳃轴和口唇内的cNOS活力和iNOS活力相近;唇瓣内的NOS则以iNOS为主。  相似文献

采用透射电镜技术,研究了3种鲈形目鱼类褐菖鲉Sebastiscus marmoratus、黑鲷Sparus macrocephalus及平鲷Rhabdosargus sarba(Forskal)精子发生早期精原细胞、初级精母细胞及次级精母细胞的超显微结构变化。结果表明,3种鱼生精细胞形态结构及代谢活动变化主要体现在核的变化、线粒体数目与结构的变化及高尔基体和溶酶体的行为变化。3种鱼核的变化基本一致:细胞核由近圆形或椭圆形转变为多角形;核质逐渐浓缩;核仁从明显结构至完全消失。褐菖鲉精原细胞时期线粒体分布较多,并出现拟染色质与线粒体相粘附;而平鲷与黑鲷精原细胞时期的线粒体分布较少,无拟染色质。3种鱼高尔基体与溶酶体的变化也有相似性。黑鲷的初级精母细胞中还观察到典型的环层状的髓样小体的结构。  相似文献

海马属(Hippocampus)鱼类具有独特的雄性育儿繁殖方式, 其卵巢和精巢结构也极其独特。本研究系统阐明了线纹海马(Hippocampus erectus)的性腺及生殖细胞的发育特征, 根据组织学结构和细胞形态学变化特征, 将线纹海马的精巢和卵巢发育过程均分为6个时期。其中, 卵巢发育方式为不同步成熟型, Ⅰ期卵巢只包含第Ⅰ时相卵母细胞, 包括卵原细胞和早期初级卵母细胞(d<20μm); Ⅱ期卵巢开始出现第Ⅱ时相卵母细胞(d=20~140μm); Ⅲ期卵巢卵母细胞数量显著增多, 体积增大, 并开始出现第Ⅲ时相卵母细胞(d=140~260μm), 此时细胞内开始出现皮质小泡、卵黄颗粒和卵黄膜; Ⅳ期卵巢开始出现第 Ⅳ时相卵母细胞(d=260~1100μm), 卵黄颗粒充满整个细胞质, 形成过渡期的卵黄球; Ⅴ期卵巢出现大量第Ⅴ时相成熟卵母细胞(d=1100~2000μm), 细胞内形成流动性卵黄囊; Ⅵ期卵巢为排卵不久后的卵巢, 卵母细胞数量显著减少。线纹海马精巢属于非限制型小叶精巢, Ⅰ期精巢主要含精原细胞, 核大, 含一到多个核仁; Ⅱ期精巢开始形成精小囊, 囊内出现初级精母细胞; Ⅲ期精巢呈乳白色, 开始出现次级精母细胞; Ⅳ期精巢体积较 Ⅲ期时显著增大, 开始出现精子细胞, 并逐渐移向中央生精腔; Ⅴ期精巢内含大量的成熟精子, 随时准备释放。精子释放后精巢进入Ⅵ期, 残留少量精细胞在生精腔中。组织化学反应结果显示, 氨基酸、蛋白质和脂肪的信号在卵母细胞的细胞质、卵黄囊中呈阳性, 且随着卵母细胞的发育而增强。本研究结果为进一步探索海马属鱼类雄性繁殖策略提供了重要的基础数据。  相似文献

诱导型一氧化氮合成酶(iNOS)在生物机体免疫,特别在无脊椎动物免疫中的作用近来得到了广泛的关注,由其催化产生的一氧化氯(NO)除具有已知的神经传导、松弛平滑肌等功能外,还具有抗菌、抗病毒、抗寄生虫等作用。作者通过硝基四氯唑蓝(NBT)法和血细胞形态观察等方法,对中国明对虾(Fenneropenaeus chinensis)血细胞中存在的诱导型一氧化氮合成酶进行了初步鉴定。在此基础上,通过亚硝酸盐法和L-瓜氨酸法对比,研究了感染白斑综合症病毒(WSSV)后中国明对虾血细胞中一氧化氯合成酶的变化情况。结果显示,中国明对虾在感染WSSV后,iNOS活性在12h内有上升趋势,实验36h后酶活性显著下降,至60h后酶活性降至对照组的一半左右。同时,被脂多糖(LPS)诱导的一氧化氮合成酶活性与对照相比也有显著下降。与此对应的是,核酸探针斑点杂交法检测病毒的结果显示:实验36h后在对虾体内能够检测到白斑综合症病毒。对照组中国明对虾血细胞的iNOS在实验过程中基本保持稳定。这说明WSSV在感染中国明对虾初期可以诱导血细胞产生iNOS,但随着WSSV在中国明对虾体内的大量增殖及其对血细胞的破坏,使得iNOS活性显著降低,对虾也趋于死亡。因此,iNOS能够作为反映对虾在病毒感染过程中健康状况的有效指标。  相似文献

采用组织化学、免疫组化和生物化学方法对栉孔扇贝外套膜中的一氧化氮合酶(EC1.14.13.39,NOS)活性进行了研究。组织化学显示结果表明,帆状部上皮细胞呈NOS强阳性,血细胞和神经纤维呈阳性;外套触手内有较多近圆形细胞和大量波浪形神经纤维呈NOS强阳性;边缘膜内有大量神经细胞和神经纤维分别呈NOS强阳性和阳性,外套环走肌束附近和血管内皮周围均有大量近圆形的强阳性细胞分布;中央膜有大量近圆形阳性细胞聚集成团块或分散分布。免疫组化显示表明,血细胞、帆状部和边缘膜上皮细胞呈神经型NOS(nNOS)和内皮型NOS(eNOS)弱阳性,而呈诱导型NOS(iNOS)阳性。生化测定结果表明,总NOS(tNOS)活力和一氧化氮(NO)含量均为中央膜最高,边缘膜次之,外套触手较低,帆状部最低,其中结构型NOS(cNOS)活力也是帆状部的最低,而iNOS活力则是外套触手的最低。栉孔扇贝外套膜可能是其神经系统中NOS的发生中心,NO-NOS体系可在其免疫防御和调节等方面发挥重要的作用。  相似文献

The present review addresses the reproductive strategies of marine calanoid copepods, as affected by their physiological preconditioning, and aims to enhance understanding of their adaptations to specific environmental conditions.Knowledge about oocyte development and internal gonad structure, especially in relation to feeding conditions, is essential for a complete understanding of the reproductive strategies of the copepods. Therefore, the foci of the review are to identify general patterns in oocyte and gonad development in calanoid copepod species from marine ecosystems worldwide and to elucidate the significance of gonad structures for reproductive strategies.Oogenesis is similar in all copepod species. During maturation, the morphology of the oocytes changes distinctly and, according to oocyte size and appearance of ooplasm and nucleus, five oocyte developmental stages are distinguished. In contrast, the gonad structure and its changes during the spawning cycle differ considerably among species, and these differences are related to specific reproductive traits.Four gonad morphology types can be distinguished: the Calanus-type, found in species from all over the world with distinctly different life history traits, is apparently most common in calanoid copepods. In this gonad type, most oocyte developmental stages are present simultaneously, and usually many oocytes mature synchronously, all of which are released in one clutch. The gonad structure allows frequent spawning and large clutches, hence, high egg production rates. This may be a preconditioning for exploiting seasonally high food supply. However, the Calanus-type was also found in species producing eggs at lower rates. In the diverticula of Pseudocalanus-type gonads, only two oocyte developmental stages are present and usually fewer oocytes mature synchronously. Accordingly, the egg production rate is generally lower as compared to the Calanus-type, and apparently only this gonad-type is structurally suitable for ovigerity. Species with Pseudocalanus-type gonads are present from polar seas to the tropics, some of them being key species. The Acartia-type was scarce, found in only one species, Acartia clausi. Here all oocyte developmental stages are present, including intermediate stages, but only a few oocytes mature synchronously and are released together. High spawning frequency compensates for the small clutches, and hence egg production rate may be as high as in Calanus-type gonads. In the Aetidius-type gonad, the total number of oocytes in the diverticula is low as is the number of oocytes maturing synchronously. Less is known about the reproductive biology of species with Aetidius-type gonads; however, their distribution and feeding patterns suggest that this type is common in species inhabiting environments of low food availability.The differences in gonad structures also lead to differences in the egg size:female size ratio, as the space available for each mature oocyte depends on the total number of oocytes. Independent from gonad-type, the eggs are relatively large in species in which the gonads contain only few oocytes, whereas small eggs are produced by species with gonads filled with many oocytes. Since all species carrying their eggs in external sacs until hatching (ovigerous species) have Pseudocalanus-type gonads, the scatter in their egg size:female size ratio is low. The broadcast spawning species are of all gonad-types, and consequently the scatter among them is high.A major factor affecting the timing and magnitude of spawning of calanoid copepods is the energy supply for gonad development. Therefore, part of the review elucidates the role of internal and external resources in fuelling egg production. In many species, freshly assimilated food is transferred into egg material within a short period of time, and clutch size and spawning frequency are the two parameters that allow adjustment of egg production to food availability and temperature. However, internal body reserves may also fuel oocyte development. The extent to which oogenesis depends on ambient feeding conditions varies considerably among species and even within species, apparently reflecting their adaptation to specific environmental conditions. All copepod species continue to release eggs for a short period after the onset of starvation, indicating that a short-term nutrient pool fuels final oocyte maturation. Some species, especially from polar and subpolar regions, are capable of reproducing on internal reserves, either solely or in addition to freshly ingested food, hence, decoupling the reproduction to some extent from the spring bloom. The reproductive strategy of Calanus finmarchicus, which responds with extreme flexibility to variations in food supply, is presented here as an example for the complexity of the reproductive processes in a calanoid copepod.In accordance with their physiological pre-conditioning, the calanoid copepod species exhibit distinctly different reproductive patterns. Polar and sub-polar environments are characterized by strong seasonality in light regime, and hence, phytoplankton concentration. The reproductive activity of many dominant (herbivorous) species peaks during the spring bloom. However, species that utilize internal reserves or food resources other than phytoplankton, reproduce before and after the bloom, or even year-round. In the North Atlantic, presented here as an example for a boreal marine ecosystem, maximum reproduction of the dominant copepod species Calanus finmarchicus occurs during the spring bloom. However, the timing of peak spawning varies between areas, as the onset of the bloom varies with hydrography and climate. The subtropical Gulf of Aqaba, in contrast to other subtropical systems, is characterized by seasonal phytoplankton succession driven by thermal winter convection. These changing environmental conditions, however, did not affect the reproduction of two of the dominant species, Clausocalanus farrani and C. furcatus. In contrast, other calanoid species exhibit reproductive cycles, either related to temperature (Ctenocalanus vanus) or to ontogenetic migration (Rhincalanus nasutus).The information gained from studies of morphology and reproductive traits contributes to standardization of methods in reproductive studies. Based on detailed knowledge of gonad morphology and its changes during maturation and due to food supply, classification schemata have been developed allowing the identification of females ready to spawn. In a next step, egg production may be estimated from preserved females by assessing clutch size through the number of maturing oocytes in the gonads. This approach, however, is as yet applicable only to the species best studied, Calanus finmarchicus.The present review shows that morphological studies on gonad maturation processes may provide significant contributions to fundamental ecological questions. Thus, they extend our knowledge of reproductive ecology from simply relating reproductive traits to abiotic and biotic factors toward a mechanistic understanding of how reproduction is regulated in calanoid copepods.  相似文献

Abstract. The reproductive cycle of the comatulid crinoid Nemaster rubiginosa from Discovery Bay, Jamaica is described histologically. The cycle is annual and may be divided into (1) a "resting" phase (summer) in which most adults possess immature, unsexable gonads, (2) a recovery phase (early fall) marked by the re-initiation of gametogenesis and rapid gonadal growth, (3) a breeding phase (late fall and winter) during which the gonads are mature and repeated spawning likely takes place, and (4) a post-spawning phase (spring) during which relict gametes are removed from the shrinking gonads. Although unsexable individuals predominate during the "resting" phase, a small proportion of the adult population is unsexable at all times of the year. The reproductive condition of animals in the same month in two successive years was very similar, suggesting that the timing of reproduction is quite predictable from year to year. The re-initiation of gametogenesis in the early fall is correlated with both rising sea temperature and shortening daylength, and the October to March breeding season corresponds to the period of short daylengths at the study site. The well-defined and synchronized annual reproductive cycle of Nemaster rubiginosa contrasts with the more prolonged and variable reproductive cycles reported for other tropical crinoids and points to a diversity of breeding patterns among tropical crinoids.  相似文献

用透射电子显微镜研究了鲻鱼精子发生和精子形成过程.结果表明,鲻鱼早期精巢有两种类型的精原细胞,即A型和B型,在B型精原细胞可见核旁有类核周体(nuage),可视为精原细胞向初级精母细胞发育分化的一个重要标志.初级精母细胞减数分裂早期同源染色体配对明显可见,精子细胞之间存在着间桥联系.鲻鱼成熟精子的特点是细胞核呈马蹄形,核凹较浅,核前端无顶体,核内染色质呈粗颗粒状,核膜与质膜之间有较大的空隙.中段较短,近端中心粒和远端中心粒互相垂直.精子尾部细长,横切面为典型的“9+2”双联微管结构,两侧有侧鳍  相似文献

The Seine Bay is used as a pilot area to assess the usefulness of monitoring programmes using a suite of biological measurements. These biomarkers included ethoxyresorfin-O-deethylase (EROD) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activities, multixenobiotic resistance (MXR) protein expression level assessment and gonad histopathology. Samples of European flounder collected in three sites close to the Seine Estuary in late September 1998 showed that 8% of the males were intersex, i.e. had gonads with both male and female tissues. Another 10% of individuals, identified as male by morphological observation during sampling, showed only female tissues on histological sections. These dramatic changes were associated with different patterns of EROD activity, MXR expression or AChE activity inhibition that might reflect shorter time effects of xenobiotics and constitute a starting point to integrate biological responses for the assessment of the health status of flounder in the Seine Bay.  相似文献

从许氏平鲉脑组织中克隆到细胞色素P450芳香化酶(P450aromB)(CYP19B)基因核心功能区cDNA。结果表明,许氏平鲉CYP19B主要功能区片段编码369个氨基酸,包括I-螺旋区、Ozol’s肽区及部分芳香化酶特异性保守区。RT-PCR分析表明,CYP19B在雌鱼和雄鱼各组织中表达情况不同,在雌鱼中表达较丰富,但是两者都在性腺和脑中有表达,且脑中的表达量高于性腺。生殖季节表达结果表明,CYP19B在繁殖前期表达较为丰富,退化期未见有表达。CYP19B在精巢处于Ⅲ期的许氏平鲉脑组织中表达最为丰富,在精巢发育Ⅳ期的脑组织表达量最低。上述研究结果说明,CYP19B在雌性和雄性许氏平鲉繁殖周期中均发挥重要生理作用。  相似文献

The viviparous blenny (Zoarces viviparus), also known as eelpout, is considered a suitable biomonitor for use in European estuarine and coastal waters. We have previously shown that Z. viviparus from the industrialised Tyne estuary (UK) display certain histopathologies (e.g., ovotestis and hepatic nuclear and cellular pleomorphism), which are associated with contaminant exposure [Mar. Environ. Res. 55 (2003) 137]. Furthermore, the prevalence of these pathologies was higher than in fish collected from a less contaminated reference site (the Alde estuary, UK). Here, tissue samples were collected from Z. viviparus from the Tyne and Alde estuaries (in the spring and autumn) and analysed for DNA adducts using the (32)P-postlabelling assay and for histopathology. Z. viviparus caught from the Tyne during the spring (56.4+/-18.5 adducts per 10(8) nucleotides) and autumn (63.1+/-7.5 adducts per 10(8) nucleotides) exhibited patterns of DNA adducts which indicated exposure to a complex mixture of genotoxins. In contrast, levels of DNA adducts in Z. viviparus from Alde estuary were significantly lower during both sampling periods. Histopathological changes to the gonads included intersex (ovotestis) and germ cell apoptosis (detected via the TUNEL assay) in male fish captured from the Tyne estuary. Further studies on the use of germ cell apoptotic rate at different estuarine sites are required if it is to be used as a reproductive biomarker of contaminant exposure in male fish.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究饲料维生素C对美国红鱼(Sciaenops ocellatus)组织中的NO含量、NOS活力和NOS基因表达的影响。采用单因子试验设计,将360尾平均体重为(147.28±7.69)g的美国红鱼随机分为6个处理,每个处理设3个重复,每个重复20尾,分别饲喂6种不同维生素C水平(0、49.3、98.9、197.5、396.4和1989.8mg/kg)的等氮等能饲料,进行为期8周的生长试验。结果表明:头肾、肝、肠、胸腺NO含量随着饲料维生素C含量增加有显著增加;脾中各组NO含量无显著性差异;脑中NO含量C0组与其它各组相比有显著性差异。头肾、肝、胸腺NOS活力随着饲料维生素C含量增加有显著增加;脾和肠中各组NOS活力无显著性差异;脑中NOS活力C396.4组与其它各组相比有显著性差异。脑中各组nNOS基因mRNA的表达含量无显著性差异;在饲料维生素C含量达到1989.8mg/kg时,其它各组织内的nNOS基因mRNA的表达量最高。综上所述,饲料中添加适当维生素C对美国红鱼组织中的NO含量、NOS活力和nNOS基因mRNA的表达有显著影响。  相似文献

Vitellins (Vn) are the major egg yolk proteins that constitute an important energy reserve for mollusc embryos. The purpose of the present study was to examine whether the relative levels of sugars, lipids, phosphates, and labile IIb metals and calcium normally associated with Vn would differ in clam populations living at contaminated sites. Softshell clams (Mya arenaria) were collected at three sites in the area of the Saguenay Fjord: a marina, a municipal sewer outfall zone, and a reference site. The condition factor (weight:length ratio), metallothionein-like proteins, cytochrome P450 1A1 activity and DNA damage were all determined in the clam's digestive gland. Levels of total sugars, lipids, alkali-labile phosphates, proteins, and labile zinc and calcium were determined in female gonad homogenates and in purified Vn. The results show that clam gonads at the contaminated site by a marina displayed a lower index of gonad activity than the reference site. In addition, the condition factor was significantly lower at the marina site as compared to the reference site, with a concomitant increase in DNA damage and metallothionein (MT) induction. In fact, the condition factor was significantly correlated with DNA damage (R = -0.413, P = 0.045) and MT levels (R = -0.622, P = 0.03). Homogenates of female gonads were found to contain higher levels of labile IIb metals and calcium, with lower lipid content at the marina site compared to the reference site, and much higher levels of alkali-labile phosphates (ALP) and calcium at the municipal outfall site. Vn from the marina site were significantly higher in labile IIb metals but lipid content appeared to be somewhat lower than at the reference site. Vn from the municipal site were found to be highly phosphorylated, with higher levels of lipids and calcium. These results suggest that the chemical composition of the gonads and Vn are altered in contaminated sites.  相似文献

Irregular sea urchins such as the spatangoid Spatangus purpureus are important bioturbators that contribute to natural biogenic disturbance and the functioning of biogeochemical cycles in soft sediments. In the coastal waters of the Balearic Islands S. purpureus occurs in soft red algal beds, and can reach high densities. The diet of S. purpureus is unknown and it is particularly difficult to analyze the stomach contents of this group; therefore, we analyzed the fatty acid (FA) composition of the gonads and potential food resources in order to assess the trophic relationships of this species. The FA profiles of the gonads of S. purpureus agree well with the FA composition of the potential trophic resources (algae and sediment) and reveals changes between localities with different available resources. Three polyunsaturated FAs mainly contributes in the composition in the S. purpureus gonads: eicosapentaenoic acid (C20:5n-3) and arachidonic acid (C20:4n-6), both abundant in the macroalgal material, and palmitoleic acid (C16:1n-7), which is characteristic of sediment samples. Trophic markers of bacterial input and carnivorous feeding were significantly more abundant in sea urchins caught on bottoms with less vegetation. The current study demonstrates that the FA content of S. purpureus gonads is a useful marker of diet, as differences in the profiles reflected the variations in detritus composition. The results of this study show that this species has omnivorous feeding behavior; however, viewed in conjunction with available abundance data the results suggest that phytodetritus found within algal beds is an important carbon source for this species.  相似文献

Mean gonad indices of Evechinus chloroticus (Val.) at Kaikoura and Kaiteriteri, South Island, New Zealand, increased during the winter and spring to reach peak values during the summer and then decreased to minimum values in autumn. There was only one major summer peak at Kaikoura, but two at Kaiteriteri. The maximum mean gonad index of Kaiteriteri specimens was little higher than the minimum at Kaikoura. Absolute size of gonads and spawn producton were also lower at Kaiteriteri, perhaps because of less food there.

At both localities gametogenic cycles were correlated with gonad index cycles, progressing from unripe to ripe from late autumn to spring, but Kaikoura urchins held ripe gametes over a longer period than Kaiteriteri urchins. The volume of spawn from females was greater than that from males but males had ripe gametes (and could be artificially induced to spawn) longer. At Kaikoura, some spawning probably occurred throughout summer with a major spawning in late summer or early autumn. Large urchins with small dark gonads were found throughout the year, particularly at Kaiteriteri; these were probably senile individuals.

Although at both localities Evechinus matured at 3–4 years, Kaikoura urchins were larger at maturity.

At Kaiteriteri sex ratios of mature Evechinus did not differ significantly from 1:1, but in some populations at Kaikoura males were significantly more prevalent than females.  相似文献

文昌鱼(Branchiostoma belcheri tsingtauense)属于脊索动物门(Chordata)头索动物亚门(Cephalochordata)文昌鱼科(Branchiostomidae),为国家二级保护动物。据认为(Carrol,1988),文昌鱼是和脊椎动物亲缘关系最近的现存无脊椎动物,在系统演化上,它介于无脊椎动物和脊椎动物之间,是研究脊椎动物起源的珍贵材料。此外,文昌鱼体内蛋白含量高达70%,并含有丰富的碘、铁和磷,脂肪含量低(Svetashev et al.,1994),在我国福建省和东南亚地区被视为美味佳肴。但是,近年来由于生存环境的改变和环境污染,文昌鱼种群在世界各海区都在减少(方永强,1987;Nishikawa,1992)。为保护这一具有重要学术意义和一定经济价值的濒危动物,开展全人工养殖的研究是十分必要和急需的。 杜琦等(1990)以及Wu等(1994)曾先后进行过文昌鱼人工培育的研究,取得了一些成果,目前,我们又开展了实验室培养文昌鱼的繁殖生物学研究。有关天然海区文昌鱼的产卵、排精及其受精卵胚胎发育已有大量描述(Wickstead,1975;金德祥,1964),但是,实验室培养文昌鱼的产卵、排精及其受精卵早期胚胎发育观察却未见报道。通过研究发现:(1)文昌鱼只有在雌、雄同时存在时才能产卵、排精,而雌、雄分开后都不产卵排精,说明文昌鱼产卵、排精很可能受性外激素的控制;(2)实验室培养的文昌鱼受精卵能正常发育,并形成正常幼虫。  相似文献

Reproduction and recruitment of the surf clam Donax serra on two Namibian beaches were studied over a period of two years. Histological examination of the gonads indicated a discontinous annual reproductive cycle, related to monthly mean sea surface temperature. The spawning season lasted from August/September to February, but juveniles (2 – 6 mm anterior-posterior shell length) were only present for three months in the intertidal zone. The condition index indicates that the species spawns during autumn and summer, but histological validation is needed. The period when juveniles are abundant is decoupled from the spawning period and therefore cannot be predicted clearly, even if the spawning period is known. Starvation, hydrodynamic processes, chemical parameters and different release times during the spawning period are thought to cause the differences in settlement time and recruitment strength between locations.  相似文献

Aquaculture activities have introduced European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) along the coasts of some of the Canary Islands. We present the first record of simultaneous male and female gonad maturation of escaped sea bass in the wild, indicating that this species is finding its essential fish habitat (EFH). Individuals with ripe gonads were only caught during January and February 2009, although the maturation and spawning season may last from November to February in the studied area (Tenerife island). Bass infected by Sphaerospora testicularis were found and the incidence of the parasite was checked. This represents the southernmost record of the parasite, probably introduced together with sea bass stock. The results are discussed from the point of view of risk assessment and the ecology of invasions being valuable for aquaculture management in Central North Atlantic and Mediterranean areas.  相似文献
